10th Planet JJ to MMA
I have been training in 10th Planet JJ for about 2 months now just working on fundamentals/flexibility and rolling after each session. I am very interested in getting into MMA and was wondering how long I should work on my JJ before I go to a full out MMA training routine. Are there any drawbacks to doing a little of both or should I stick to jj for awhile before stepping it up a notch?

I started doing everything right away, I still attend more BJJ classes, but I try to do one mma class a week, and at least one Muay Thai class. I am an avid BJJ/Submission grappling competitor though. I also have a 2nd degree black belts in Karate and Judo so I do alot of stand up training on my own. Trying to figure out the best way to combine everything.(I had Machida figured out a long time ago, Shogun was the first to implement it.

I think I will try to make a schedule similar to that then. Try to throw a few different things in the mix throughout the week. I just didn't know how hard it would be to be introduced to so many things at once. I'm sure I can handle it. Thanks

First off, Welcome to the forum man :)
But it all depends on how free your life is you know, you can just straight into MMA, accually I think you should because if you still with BJJ till your satisfied that would take years, years that you could ALOT be implementing wrestling, boxing and Muay Thai. Goodluck on your decision |
