New to forum..sorta new to training..

Hi! I am 39 5"10" 290lbs 56"waist (Roy Nelson is my hero lol) and very out of shape..I am still very flexible and can still move pretty quick for a guy my size.I used to train in BJJ/MMA about 8 years ago when I was alot thinner..I want to get back into question is should I loose weight/get in better shape before I join a mma school or join the mma school and get in shape by training? I have been doing a "body for life" type diet and have lost 20 lbs (I was 310).Also the fact that I am you think thats too old to start again? Any info would be awesome!

You get in there anddo it if you want to but go in slow so you dnt give up hang in there. I'm starting too

LOL!! Dive on in!! I STARTED training at 41 in the worst shape of my life. Wrestled in high school all those years ago but thats it as far as anything similar goes. Going strong 2 yrs later.

Since you've done this before plan on it sucking for about 3 weeks. Start slow and remember that you don't have to keep up with the 20 year olds. Also, plan on injuries taking alot longer to hear than they used to. I bought Aaflac accident insurance and it turns out that was one of the best decisions I've made. I get paid every time I pull, twist, or torque something. It might be worth looking into as a just in case...
