hey guys in my opinion you should stick with what you know best and are most confident with.Yes taking them down and going for ground n pound is a very effective tactic but honestly i would stick to what you are best at. Not saying not to do it , do it if ur confindent with your takedowns but be aware if you cant take them down you need other options. Cheers Hope that brings some perspective.

Rushing and looking for the knockout/takedown early might get yourself caught with a counter. feeling out an opponent is the better way to start a fight in my opinion.
