Question about Interim Champions.

Hi. I just started getting into MMA and I had a question.

Is an interim champion guaranteed a fight against the "Real" champion when he is ready to come back and fight?

As far as history goes, pretty much. I'd like to give you a definitive answer but I do not have one:(

Interim champs I can think of are Carwin, Serra, Penn, and Arlovski or Sylvia when Frank Murr got in the bicycle wreck. Injuries, steroid allegations, and retirement are all issues with interim champions.
