Well im looking to start some form of martial art. I have absolutely no experience in trained fighting. Im 21, 5"8 and probs 2 or 3 stone overweight at 13.5st (189lb) due to too much beer and cigs. I want to get fit and toughen up, been looking at Muay Thai and I like the look of it. Question is, do I join a gym, do a shitload of cardio then start...or jump right in and join Muay Thai classes? Thanks guys :)
I think this really depends on where you take the Muay Thai classes. Try and see if you can join some lessons (usually most schools allow you to join some free trial lessons) to see if you're in a good enough shape and if the content of the lessons are what you're looking for (rough enough/not rough enough etc.).
So jump right in and join Muay Thai and if it's too much you can always choose to do cardio etc or find another school!
