You want to fight at your natural weight when the guy your fighting has a 25 lbs advantage over you? Didn't think so.

In my opinion it is dumb. But what can you do? You can't really make a rule that says fighters aren't allowed to visit the sauna.

So if you get the choice of fighting a guy 30 pounds heavier than you or cutting weight I don't think it's a hard choice to make.

Yeah I believe its just as simple as "every one else is doing it" Hell I do it. My last fight I cut almost 10 lbs no problem. Just stopped drinking water the day before and ran. Simple as that. Its all about having that little edge

IIRC LW is 146-155lbs so with the 1lb allowance you could be 145-156lbs but I don't think they have that allowance for championship fights.

It would be from 145+ to 156 for LW. The floor is anything over the next class down for all weight classes except Flyweight which has no floor.

It depends on the commission apparently.

You are allowed to be under weight as much as you like as long as you are not so far under weight that you are in another weight class. For example, if Anderson Silva wants to fight LHW he can walk in at 186 and be eligible. As long as he doesn't go over 206.

BJ Penn is pretty much the only fighter under HW in the UFC who doesn't cut any weight what so ever and he has actually put on some weight from when he fought at 155. When BJ originally fought at 155 he was under 155lbs as well.

You need an extreme speed and athletic advantage to avoid from cutting (excessive) weight and fighting in your weight class.

Heavyweight has the least amount of depth and talent so you can get away with a large weight disadvantage, presumably if you can make up the difference with skill.

And it didn't help his gas tank one bit. Their are others that don't cut, I know Jardine never cut, Rashad likely doesn't, Pettis doesn't, Edgar might have to gain weight.
