Thanking God after a fight?
Why do fighters thank God after a fight? For example, Sanchez is always thanking Jesus for his victories. This makes no sense.
"Thank you God for allowing me to kick this guys ass tonight. Thank you god for my razor sharp elbows and giving me the strength to cut his head open. Than you God for the Thai clinch and for giving me the strength to smash my knees against his face.

We've had this dicussion on here before, I think it's all about interreptation, I think most fighters are thanking God for giving them their talents & health to be able to compete, not because they just beat someone's head in.

Please, they should be thanking Tom Cruise for scientology.
I'd like to thank Tom Cruise and his aliens for giving me the ability to perform this omaplata. He was really coming at me with some wild shots but I decided to take it to the ground, it was the greatest feeling in the world to tap a guy like him, thank you Tom Cruise and the aliens, amen.

Thanking God when you win is fine, as long as you blame him when you lose. Like George Carlin said, you never hear "The good lord tripped me up behind the line of scrimmage!"

If God won: "I'd like to thank xyience (takes sip), my trainers Royce Graycie, Randy Couture, Chuck Liddel, and Evan Tanner for meeting up with me in high alititude Colorado. I don't know what I'd do with out you guys, and the fans (looks into the crowd) I love you guys man, I wouldn't be where I am without you (throws Tap Out t-shirt into the crowd), Toyota Tires, Burger King for using my face as the King, Bloodworks Sports Association, my Mom and Dad for coming out to see me for the first time (winks into the crowd), and Jesus Christ my son who couldn't be here because his wife is currently giving birth to my new grandson Fedor, and last but not least, most importantly, I'd like to thank myself."

I never noticed any previous threads. I am new to the board and have only read the most recent threads - Two people gave a "bad pst" because of this thread? Not sure why - If you read my post it was meant in good fun
I also wanted to add that this is in the SMACK Talk section - Why are people saying its a bad post - this is a light hearted thread meant for fun

I did not give you a bad rep nor did I say this was a bad post, I was simply telling you that this subject has been discussed before and there were many different opinions and arguments made, it's a touchy subject, that's all I was trying to say. Take it for what it's worth.

Yea, I was watching that guy in the fights leading up to it...but I never watched his fight. Did he end up winning? I remember seeing him sitting in the locker room readin his bible and gave one of those "oh hey, didn't see you come in" jobs to the cameraman I watched Alex Shoenhouer's fight though he's getting better...better than he was when Swick knocked him out in like 2 seconds.
