I don't understand why so many MMA fans hate professional wrestling so much. Yeah, it's fake, but it's also an entirely different product.

Admittedly I'm a former WWE fan but I stopped watching around '07 or '08 when they decided to go to the "Sesame Street for big kids" route. Today it's just too childish for me and I enjoyed the darker storylines. It's MEANT to be fake, for crying out loud. I can certainly still appreciate the athletic ability of many of these guys and the hard work they put in to their craft.

Regarding the topic who which pro wrestlers I think could have succeeded, I think Kurt Angle is the most obvious choice. Honestly he probably could have been the LHW GOAT if he started training at a young age and developed some solid striking to his already excellent wrestling and submission fighting.

I do hate WWE these days but I used to be a big fan. I stopped after Austin retired and the Rock left to do movies. The superstars now I just can't grasp how they are superstars. Cena, CM Punk, that red headed Irish dude, how the **** are these guys the superstars of this generation they're all so plain and boring. Hogan, Savage, Michaels, Hart, Austin and the Rock were why I was a fan for so long. Now it's just horrible...boring storylines, boring personalities and boring matches.

That's the problem- marks don't realize it is. Or they literally do, but still think, in the back of their minds, that these are really tough guys who could wreck in the cage if they wanted to, because golly look at all these huge muscles and grease and cool moves. And many fans of MMA are also fans of pro wrestling (or former fans) so this bleedover comes up often. You can't tell me you've not witnessed this crap before.

Everybody good, plenty of slaves for my robot colony?

Oh I've witnessed it, I'm just surprised so many posters on this forum (and intelligent posters at that) are still closed minded to it. So many people just don't understand that MMA and Pro Wrestling are VERY different, and market to different crowds. It's sad that some of them view it as a threat to the sport too.

If you mean why do so many MMA fans, when asked, express disdain for pro wrestling? Simple. Most people who don't know MMA think its the same as pro wrestling. I got to hang out with my ex-roommate's girlfriends's grandma a couple of weeks ago who insisted that UFC was faked just like WWE. Extreme example, but no one in the room was backing me up when I assured her it was not... It's still a growing sport; a lot of people conflate the two due to aesthetic similarities and its insulting.

Tell the grandma to watch Chuck's head when Rashad knocked him out, then tell her to watch John Cena throw a footstomp "punch". I'm sure she'll get it afterwards.

Trying to tell someone who's never fought what's real and what isn't is hard. There's always that crowd at the bar that asks why they aren't doing the stuff we see in movies.

Rick The Model Martel would spray his arrogance in Anderson's eyes with Yamazaki momentarily floored from an errant haymaker, Yamazaki comes back around just in time to end the fight with Martel submitting Silva with the Boston Crab. Can see it now, clear as day
