Would Dana ever...

So it's a well known act that Pride used to fix fights. Considering that Dana white is a business savvy man who relies on things like ppv buys to fuel the business, do you guys think he would ver fall prey o the temptation to fix fights?

I have an avid interest in psychology and I think, from observing him and the way he does things, that it is very likely that he is fixing fights, I mean hell, Tito Ortizs championship reign is practically proof.

The good thing is wwe got away with being fake, we all just accepted it and kept watching. Can ufc do the same?

No.

Tito Ortizs championship reign is not proof of anything. That is incredibly stupid.

A lot of people think he was hand picking opponents and Dana was allowing it to build a star.

Look it's already happened in pride, at the time the largest promotion in he world look at the way the pushed wanderlei, and look how he stunk afterwards.

Sorry to be cliche but...

The cynic in me believes that it's possible. I don't think it's likely at this point of the game, but as it continues to grow as a worldwide sport that's more and more accepted I think the temptation will def be there. I just don't think Dana would do it right now. In the future, perhaps, but right now I don't think so. Which also means I don't think it's been done yet in the UFC. At least not during the Zuffa tenure.

Allowing a fighter to dictate who they fight is certainly in bad taste and poor sportsmanship, but it is not the same as fixing fights.

yes because hand picking opponents is the same as fixing a fight. :boo01:

the only guy Tito avoided to fight untl he couldn't anymore was Chuck. How is that protecting his reign?

Dana White will never fix a fight. I honestly think if things so bad where the UFC needs to fix fights then Dana would resign.

Not saying fight fixing won't ever happen in the UFC but it will never be instigated by Dana.

Anyone caught fixing a fight would be instantly dismissed, possibly even sued by the UFC. That goes for all the big names too.

Theres nothing like a good fight fixing scandal to bring down an organisation.

TanyaJade 04-20-2013 03:57 PM

Not a chance.

Part of the UFC's campaign to overtake boxing as the top combat sport is the proclamation that the UFC is a clean organization that doesn't have all the political bullshit in boxing like fixing fights, squash matches, etc.

If Dana ever fixed a fight the UFC would lose the credibility it has, and Dana's already made some mistakes that have put the sport in a bad light.
