no mongoloid is not a universal term, it is an antiquated term for someone with down's syndrome

I can't remember who it was, but someone was suspended from fighting because there was fear over whether or not he was sound of mind. Does that answer your quesiton? There would be too much about whether the 'downy' wanted to fight or if he was being baited into it. Anyway, the answer is deffinatly no.

The term Mongoloid is a variation of the word "Mongol", meaning "Mongol-like". It was coined as a racial category to describe the distinctive appearance of East Asian peoples. Variations include Mongolian race, "Sinoid" or "Mongolid". Today it is most used in discussions of human prehistory, historical definitions of race and in the forensic analysis of human remains. The concept's existence is based on the now discredited typological method of racial classification.[1] In forensics, Mongoloid is considered a skull type that is used to determine the probable soft-tissue reconstruction of discovered human remains.
Now people with downs usually have a enlarged forehead. They are being referenced when using mongoloid. So you are insulting the Asian race by referring mongoloid as "retards"

Thanks for the history lesson guy, had no idea where the term came from, I always thought it was something someone in my high school made up. He always called black people "Shreegans"....now I'm pretty sure he DID make that word up...but I could be wrong I guess. |

In Britain the term 'mong' is pretty much widely used to descrive someone with downsydrome. I think there was a period in time when the extended version was an actual technical term for them, like spastic.
