You catch a punch or grab their arm in the clinch, and twist their wrist (which I am guessing is considered a 'small joint', because I've NEVER seen someone use an Aikido move in the UFC) a certain way and you can submit them because otherwise you will just break their wrist, or arm, or fingers, or whatever you got a hold of. That's just my guess though, I don't see any other reason as to why small joint manipulation would be banned other than it's because it's so easy to break someone's bone like that.
I was under the impression that "small joint manipulation" only referred to fingers and toes. I could be wrong, but that seems to make the most sense since the wrist really isn't that small. I think people don't use Aikido in MMA because 1) very few are familiar with it and 2) the wrap around the wrists makes it pretty hard.

As to the original question. You have got to be insane if you actually think Seagal would even have 1 win in any MMA organization.

Steven Seagal would not do very well in MMA in my opinion, nothing against him personnally but I just can't see it.
I agree wiht WLTFU, Aikido is some really fun stuff to learn, I dabbled a little bit a few years back.

Beelzebubba can only hope to improve
Beside the fact that small joint manipulation is banned in MMA there is an even better reason why fighters would never consider using aikido...because it's completely and utterly useless. Maybe, if you're a really well trained aikido practitioner, just maybe it might be effective in a street confrontation. And then only in a defense scenario where your opponent is caught completely off guard...but if you're squaring off with someone who is ready to fight you it is 99% ineffective.

That's true too, and like Wawaweewa said the gloves would make it even harder. There's a couple moves that would be good in MMA or in a fight but overall you have to either be extremely good at it or be doing it with someone that you know is gonna cooperate a little bit. There's a couple wrist grabs and shit that could potentially work in a fight though, if you're good.

OV Pimp has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Steven Segal is a good martial artist, but he's an even better actor. MMA isn't right for him, at all.
