Most Undeserving of a title shot!

The more I think about this man bypassing his the ladder to get an instant title shot the more annoyed I get! What the hell did this man do to be considered a title contender? He was the most undeserving of a title shot!

Of course you all know, I am talking about Sean Sherk! People are probably looking at this and going like "What are you stupid, what about the TUF champion Matt Serra? In a way Matt Serra did more work to the title then Sherk did! You can argue that the guys he beat were a bunch of has-beens but at least he was on a win streak.

Seriously, what the hell did Sean Sherk do? He got dominated by Matt Hughes, got his ass handed to him by George St. Pierre, and he beat a guy (Nick Diaz) who recently got beat by Joe Riggs and Diego Sanchez. Sorry, but nothing about that screams title shot to me! The only reason why he got a shot was because the Lightweight division was weak and he was more marketable then Hermes Franca!

So thats my take on it!

First, Matt Serra was not on a win streak. He lost to Karo, then won the fight with Lytle. Winning one fight before your title shot isn't much of a streak, and the guys he beat on TUF don't count as fights. I'm not saying that in the technical sense, but in the sense that those guys are just not UFC worthy fighters.

Sherk, on the other hand, has like a 33-2 record. If you're recruiting new LW's for your division, who better to throw into the mix? That's an freakishly impressive record, and I think he since proved that he was worthy of getting the title shot (If he hasn't been juicing the entire time). I think Sherk was a great fit for the title.

Regardless of what anyone wants to say...I figure if your wearing the belt, then you showed up...People and spend hours (as they have in this forum) saying "he doesn't deserve it." But until someone takes away the belt? The champ is the champ. No matter what road he travelled to get there.

33-2 is a good record! But did he deserve the title shot? No! Those two loses were recent which pretty much shoots him down the ladder. If Nick Diaz was on some win streak then I would say beating him would but him high on the ladder. But as it happens, Hick was coming off of two losses himself. So for Sean Sherk to get a title shot he would need to beat 2 or 3 more people after Diaz. Instead, he got an instant title shot because he was marketable. So Sean Sherk did not deserve that title shot!

He didn't say he doesn't deserve the belt (I think) he is simply saying he didn't deserve to get the title shot in the first place.

But look at how well that has worked out for him, he should be stripped soon.
maybe then him and lesner can trade stories of how their nuts has shrunk up, and exchange back-hair. GREAT UFC stuff there, uh huh!

Resurrection this thread because it just happened again. This one really pisses me off. All Nick Diaz did to get a title shot was bitch about how he was going to retire after losing to Condit. He totally earned it.

Who would you have Condit fight then before GSP? or would you be content to wait 10 months for a WW tittle fight?

Nobody is topping Brock Lesnar, ever. He went on to become the most succesful HW Champion in recent years but that's another story.
