What's with the Hong Man Choi hype train?
This one preplexes me? Usually when someone is hyped up its because they had a really good win! For instance, Gabriel Gonzaga! He destroyed the No.2 guy in a very impressive fashion!
Hong Man Choi on the other hand didn't take out anybody! People are jumping on his bandwagon because he got armbarred under two minutes. How is that impressive? If anything it shows he needs to work on his ground game and learn how defend submissions! But instead people veiw him as some unstoppable MMA machine that could take out the HW division with ease! That's weak!

Yeah I don't get it either. And for the people who say he took Fedor down...Fedor had the body lock and tried to hip throw him. The only reason Choi wasn't on his back is cause he weighs over 350 pounds.
Choi has power and is great in kickboxing, but in MMA, he'll only beat someone stupid enough to keep it standing. He's not a can, as he poses a threat due to his size and power, but he won't beat any competent, top HW's.

He sure hit Fedor hard. Even thought Choi isn't that skillful, his size and strength make a him tough opponent. Not sure if he deserves his own bandwagon though  |

The first time they went down, Fedor got taken down.

Fedor does attempt to throw him, but Choi clearly places his right hand behind Fedor and pushes him back, he was going for a takedown. Either that or Fedor is a whole lot worse at taking people down than I thought. Second time Fedor takes Choi down. IMO.
Yeah, Choi didn't impress me, he was as good as I thought he'd be, and caused Fedor problems. I mean, look at Fedor hangin upside down off him after the first armbar attemt. The guy is a beast. |
