This past year we have seen a lot of that lately. Instead of people saying this guy was a better figther that night we usually get a shitload of excuses why that guy was able to beat the other guy the way they did.
The list of excuses.
Hendo def. Wanderlei Silva: Wanderlei had strep throat and was not fighting under normal Pride rules.
Matt Hughes def. BJ Penn: BJ broke his own ribs!
Randy Couture def. Tim Sylvia: Sylvia had a bad back.
Tim Sylvia def. Andrei Arlovski for the first time: it was a lucky punch!
Tim Sylvia def. Andrei Arlovski for a second time: Andrei had a broken foot.
Randy Couture def. Gabe Gonzaga: Gonzaga was untested even though he beaten Cro Cop, several other UFC heavyweights, and givin Werdum a run for his money.
Gonzaga def. Cro Cop: It was a fluke kick and it was Herb Deans fault. If this was Pride Cro Cop would have destroyed Gonzaga!
Anderson Silva def. Travis Lutter: Illegal Elbow strikes to the back of the head.
Kongo def. Cro Cop: Cro Cop had a broken rib (caused by a kick the Kongo threw) and got nailed in the balls twice. Even though Big John gave him time to recover from those strikes it still effected his performances to the point where he just completely sucked. Oh, and if this was in Pride Cro Cop would have won that fight!
Forrest def. Shogun: Shogun has a bad knee, he recently got married, he's not used to the cage, and if this was in Pride Shogun would have won!
and my personal favorite and the weakest excuse of all time:
Matt Serra def. GSP: It was a lucky punch.
Frank Mir vs. Brock Lesner: Steve Mazzagatti screwed Lesner.
Wow, do people give credit to these fighters at all? That is a lot of victories being cheapen right there! What are your thoughts on all these excuses? Should excuses be even made in this sport?
