I think fighting bigger guys is pretty cool. In the real world, it's very likely for two guys to get into a fight at different weight classes, so why not recreate it in a sport that looks out for both fighters safety? It makes sense to me. Good fighters have skill that can overcome bigger fighters. I fight and train a lot and I enjoy fighting bigger guys more than fighting guys my size.. Why? Because it's more fun and it's harder.

You are very uneducated in mma, and probably everything else. Your argument is weak, this thread is stupid.
The end.

pride listened to their fans. If fans wanted certain matchups, and both fighters were willing, it happened.
Saying that, couture DID drop and end up fighting Liddell, Franklin put on weight and went at shamrock, so it has happened before.
UFC tends to not do this now, unless there is HUGE calling for it,, But a fighter would not have to do anything if he is fighting in his best weight form.
Many fighters DO go up and down weight classes. They just "match" the weight in UFC rather than "going in raw".

Franklin starte dat LHW. Got whipped Machida and came to the UFC. Had a couple fights and had the opportunity to fight Tanner at 185 and beat him for the belt. He dropped classes just like Swick after he couldn't get a title shot at 185 and Sherk after GSP pounded him til his face looked like a bloody mess.
It is not really a choice of the UFC as much as it is up to the fighter. THe fighter probably just ask what could happen if they went to that weight class. Dana and Joe Silva give them an outline and they make their choice.
