I'd Like To See GSP vs Anderson Silva

In no way am I campaigning for this... I was just thinking to myself about Anderson Silva's heat. He seems very overwhelming for his division with nobody coming to mind that could beat him at this moment.

GSP on the other hand has been beaten but is a great force both on the ground and standup...

I think this would be a pretty good fight, very technical, very entertaining.. although it would probably never happen..

What do you guys think?

i was thinking earlier on, i know it may seem dumb right now, but BJ Penn i think has a good chance of suprising the world, hes thought at middleweight before, shit even heavyweight.. i think he would be a good match up, heavy hands, never seen him rocked yet (i havnt watched all his fights) he dominated GSP before his cardio got the better of him.

GSP could fight Anderson Silva but taht probably will not happen, I would say Anderson would win but GSP would have a much better shot than most of the guys at MW do now. Actually a better shot than all of them(That are currently signed in the UFC)

i think gsp could give anderson a run if he turned it into a wrestling match. gsp has a very active top game, always looking to pass, and throws great short elbows. not to mention an ever improving sub game. he put matt hughes in 3different subs in a matter of minutes.

GSP is great within his weight class, but he couldn't get past Hendo, much less Silva.

His biggest advantages at Welterweight, a disproportionately advantageous reach and power, mean little at middleweight.

I think it will happen, in two to three years that is. It all depends on how well GSP does in his next three to four fights. If he does well in his next three to four fights hes going to be more confident and rightful so. Therefore, I think he will think about it more, and so will Greg Jackson and the people that support him.

You also have to think about how well physically he would perform. Right now he walks around at 185-190lbs, and drops to 170lbs. When he cuts to 170lbs, as we have seen every time he performs he does very well. He's healthy, quick, strong, and has all the physical tools to be a great MMA fighter. Obviously he can't cut to 155lbs, he just wouldn't be healthy, and in fact I'd say he would almost be sick cutting down that far and competing. So the question is, how well would he perform at 185.

How strong would he be?

I personally thing he would be stronger then ever, and would easily top the strength of top middleweights.

How fast would be?

We know hes fast at 170lbs, hes as fast as a fighter can get for that weight in my opinion. But how fast would he be with the other 15 pounds. That 15 pounds of course all muscle but I don't think his speed would change at all. I don't think he would be faster, but I also don't think he would be slower. He would be as fast as he was 170lbs.

Would he still have the agility he has at 170lbs?

Yes. Much like his speed, I don't think it would change he would still have that great agility he has at 170lbs.

Personally, with all things aside I think he would do fine at 185lbs. He wouldn't have to cut as much weight so he would feel a bit more comfortable in my opinion, and thats something every fighter wants to feel. Comfort when they fight, there going to war so they just as well feel healthy going into it.

Anderson Silva vs. Georges St. Pierre could happen sooner then we think, it all depends on how well GSP does in his next few fights. If all goes well, you know he will be looking at fighting at 185.

I could see these two fighting in 2010-2011.

Fitch Karo, Serra (A 3rd), Koscheck, Swick, Davis, Sanchez, there are some guys that GSP could face in the 170 division. That is, if he beats Serra, of course. I'm not overlooking that fight.

He should just stay at 170, since he performs greatly at that weight, and there are challengers he could face.
