Hughes is done for

before his last match with gsp and I remember thinking he was going to win.

I re-watched it and he defeated him self. The minuet he walked in to the ring it was clear the mentally he wasn't there. i watched some of his old fights and he looked like a lion stalking his prey and he looked nothing like that and he didn't have the fire in his eyes like he usually does.

what do you think?

I don't think he is done for more so that he knew when going up against GSP that he was going up against a better fighter.

agreed. but yeah in the last two fights with gsp if you look in his eyes it looks like he is trying to be the nice guy. go back to his fights with trigg there is nothing but fire in those eyes.

Hughes' ground game just cant carry him anymore because guys are coming up with just as good if not better wrestling and submission skills. Add in the facts he seems to have almost ignored developing his striking, that hes getting older and hes kind of getting left out of the cold in this new generation of fighters.

yes he was himself versus GSP. he is a one dimensional fighter who has failed to evolve with the sport. i take nothing away from what he has accomplished in the past, and he deserves his place in the Hall of Fame, however, he is not going to be able to succeed against the more well rounded fighters of today's mma.

Are you kidding me? Silva would demolish Hughes easy. Hughes cant stand with him, and he sure as hell couldnt submit him. Hendo was the best type of wrestler to go up against Silva and if he could barely sqeeze out a round over Silva then Hughes is pretty much helpless. The ONLY thing that Hughes might have over Hendo is better ground control and passing the guard to the side mount but if he couldnt hang with GSP on the ground then he definitely wont be able to hang with the Spyda.

I don't think Hughes is done. I don't think he will be a champion again though. GSP fought a perfect fight; hardly anyone could have beat GSP that fight.

I want to see Kos vs Hughes; if Serra vs Hughes doesn't happen.

I wouldn't count Hughes out just yet, I still want to see how he fares against Serra or Koscheck or even Parisyan. GSP was just an animal at UFC 79, I don't think there's really anyone in the UFC that could have stopped GSP that night. On the bright side, Hughes actually lasted longer at UFC 79 than he did at UFC 64 though..

and you actually thing Hendo has looked the same since entering the octagon? Hughes in his prime would make a great Silva opponent. If Luter can get silva down, Hughes in his prime can work it x10.
