Who the **** says he's afraid? When the hell has that ever been an issue?
Fact is, he owns a BIG part of M-1... He is getting up in age and could possibly retire soon. By copromoting his fights under M-1 with whatever organisation he signs for he looks after his future by making more money off the PPV and establishing M-1 as a brand. How is this so hard to get?

Fedor isn't scared of anyone in the UFC. To be fair though he has never faced a grappler that is bigger than he is and he would if he was fighting in the UFC.
Fighters that Fedor has faced that had a significant size advantage:
Hong Man Choi
Mark Hunt
Tim Sylvia
Zulu
Semmy Schilt
Heath Herring
None of these has a ground game.
Good grapplers that Fedor has fought:
Big Nog (Fedor's best win IMO. Nog was the best HW in the world before he fought Fedor)
Ricardo Arona
Matt Lindland
Kevin Randleman
Mark Coleman
Babalu
All of these guys have been about the same size or smaller. Arona, Randleman and Babalu are really LHW's and Lindland is a MW. Mark Coleman is now fighting at LHW. So that leaves Nog who is around the same size as Fedor and Fedor couldn't finish him. Just sayin.
There are a couple HW's in the UFC that could give Fedor problems as he really hasn't had to deal with someone that is bigger than him AND can grapple.

What Fedor did by not signing with UFC was a good thing for MMA as a whole.
Just like what Tito and Randy did, they didnt give in and showed Dana that if he didnt change a little they would fight somewhere else.
The reason they both came back was because Dana gave in to thier demmands, just like he will give in to Fedor's demmands when he clears out the Strikeforce Heavyweight division.

Fedor is getting older and his career is coming to a close. A lot of PRIDE fighters came into the UFC with outstanding records and a legacy to match, only to have it tarnished with a couple beatdowns.
If Fedor cleans out the HW division in Strikeforce (which he will with ease) then he retires and is still considered "The Baddest Man On The Planet". He feels he has nothing more to prove to the fans. He doesnt look at the UFC as the Capital City of MMA like most other people do.
At the end of the day, what matters more to Fedor. What he thinks of himself and his career, or what the MMA world thinks?

Good post. Certainly a big consideration. We can debate how well Fedor would do in the UFC till the end of time. If he never joins, no doubt we will debate how well he *might* have done.
However, anybody who thinks Fedor is scared of anything ( apart from god ) is delusional.
