machida cannot win this fight
after watching several machida and rua bouts, i just cant see any way that machida will be able to hang in with rua, he is too aggressive and too fast and too strong for machida, he wont be able to run away and strike like usual, rua is going to bring a constant press.
personally, i can wait until rua crushes the paper tiger and we finally have a lhw champ we can be proud of, since rampage was cheated out of a victory over forrest we have not had a single real champ. it has been far too long.

Would have been at least a half way decent thread if you didn't call Lyoto a "paper tiger", said Forrest was cheated in the Rampage fight, and that Machida just runs away.
Smacktalk section it goes, only cause there is no "retarded threads" section.

You understand that it took Shogun three rounds to finish Mark Coleman?
He lost to Forrest Griffin.
Sure, he looked better in the fight with Liddell, but he was definitely losing until he caught Chuck (though I'm not going to take anything away from the punch, it was a great, well timed shot).
I really don't think Shogun's looked good since the fight with Overeem, basically since he moved to the Octagon. Of course, that's my opinion.
What's more fact than opinion is the note that Machida has basically the perfect style to beat a fighter like Shogun standing up.
This is a guy who knows how to control the distance, knows how to control the clinch and avoid it when he wants to. He knows how to use kicks and throw the jab effectively. He's definitely faster than Shogun, he's definitely better at range than Shogun.
Mostly, though, it's simply that all of the things you described about Shogun, all of the things that are good about Shogun, are things that are bad when you're fighting Machida.
Aggression doesn't work well against Machida. He just gets out of the way and kicks you in the face.
Bringing a constant press isn't effective.
If you really think that Shogun is going to beat Machida by chasing him faster, then you're nuts. Shogun's cardio, at this point, definitely wouldn't be able to handle that, and Machida would kill him as early as round two or three, when he was out of gas, slowing down and dropping the hands.
Sure, Shogun has a puncher's chance (and it's such a f*cking cliche I almost don't bother bringing it up, especially in the context of Machida and Anderson), but he's got to land that punch and, against Shogun, he's just not going to.
