why gsp is NOT an mma legend

IN MY OPINION, the criteria to fulfill for becoming legendary include the following:

1. FINISH most of your championship fights

2. Be dominating against tough dudes at HIGHER weight classes

There is more criteria, but above are the ones gsp cant do. Despite the above statement, i think gsp is currently the most important fighter in mma (that's another thread). BJ finishes his fights and he has won a title at a higher wt class (finishing hughes no less). Anderson silva finishes most of his championship fights and almost killed former champ, forest griffith. Finally, (and i know this is old news) gsp cheated by using grease in previous championship fights. That doesnt help his case.

What do you guys think?

You shouldn't discredit someones legendary status by making a comparision between other legends of the sport.

BJ, GSP and Silva are ALL legends. Silva does fight at LHW sometimes but he picks and chooses his fights that fit into his style. Forrest Griffin is the perfect example.

Fixed it for you.

We all have our different opinions of GSP. But he is 100% MMA legend, to say otherwise is crazy talk.

why is it that most people are willing to forget him greasing??

someone please explain this to me because i dont understand it.
cheating is cheating it doesnt matter who you are,
no one should be able to cheat in a legitimate sport, especially MMA, the greatest sport ever, without getting shot or stabbed in both eyes.

To the OP, I disagree with your assertion, but I do so respectfully. There are plenty of MMA fighters whom are considered to be legends who've never fought at higher weight classes. You would be correct were you to state that in order to be considered a P4P contender, you need fight at varying weight classes, but for legendary status... I think it comes down to being dominant, displaying a wide variety of skills, and simply put, winning. In your view, is Matt Hughes not a legend? Is Chuck Liddell not a legend? There's more to being a legend than fighting someone who naturally weighs more than you do. Dominating your division with ease. Displaying well rounded skills in all areas of mixed martial arts. Helping to advance your sport in to the mainstream. Training to be the best and doing your all to finish, even if it sometimes proves difficult. These aren't attribute of an MMA legend, or at least legend in the making?

Is GSP the best in the world? Definitely arguable. Is GSP a legend? No doobt aboot it.

Shows how much you know. You've come right in with an unprovoked attack on both GSP and his fans. You've essentially done what you claimed we'd come in and do. Now, coming from a GSP fan who has little desire to rip the OP for what may well be his valid comments, but a GSP fan who can clearly tell that you're an arse-wipe, don't you have better things to do than stirring pots over the internet? Like worrying about whether or not Machida will be gifted another decision after sustaining a five round ass-whooping from Shogun on May 8th?
