The UFC Hype Machine

I still cant believe people fall for it.
It is pretty damn ignorant to bash fighters not because of their skills, but because of the fact that they dont fight in the UFC.
Alistar Overeem
Fedor
Kawajiri
KID Yamamoto
King Mo
Mousasi
Hansen
Whitemare Zaromiskis
Melendez
Aoki
I can go on all day with this list, but just because Dana says "The best fight in the UFC" doesnt mean its 100% fact.
Fedor,Overeem,Werdum,Aoki,Melendez,Sheilds,Alveraz ,Santiago,Lawler,Diaz,Mousasi,MO,Hieron and Kawajiri deserve to bee Top Ten in their respective weight classes.
Personally, I judge fighters by thier skill, not thier promotion and to do so is just plain stupid.

Agreed. MMA should be seen as one giant sport, not singled out companies.

Arlovski's always been a mediocre MMA HW = pure product of UFC hype machine.

I remember Joe Rogan interview about how they did it.

Dana also says"I cant sign and have all the best fighters in the world in the ufc, so mma needs other companies to showcase these fightes" or somethign along those lines. He also says he wants to bring in the best to fight the ufc's best to see who is the better fighters

I think people overexagerate the way the ufc goes about their business. If you look at those"top 10-20"rankings around 85% of them are UFC fighters. Just because there are a few truely GREAT fighters that don't fight in the UFC doesn't mean the UFC isn't the biggest or best organization in MMA.

With the exception of Fedor, I believe Dana is right. Honestly, it's tough to convince myself that Fedor is still the best fighter in the world, especially after seeing Shogun beat Machida's ass, twice.

I just wish promotions like Strikeforce and the UFC could have their fighters fight each other...instead of wondering what could have been...that would eliminate a lot unecessary hype.

To play devil's advocate, it's not so much how many wins you have racked up that reflects your true skill level, its about who those wins are over that determine your level of talent.

Undefeated division two football teams would get dominated by a lower then average division one football team. A division one champion team would get dominated by a low tier NFL team. Wins alone aren't the best indicator of skills, though they do play an important factor, but a more credible factor then wins alone, is who you're beating.

I'm not saying SF fighters aren't legit, they are, but SF collectively is a Division two talent pool, whereas, the UFC is division one talent, collectively.

True, but as you have seen in interviews with Dana about SF, he isn't exactly their biggest fan. So I doubt that will happen any time soon.
