i feel like matt deserves another shot at the title before he should fight Sanchez, if they fought and matt loses he wont get a title shot for a long time. He more than anyone deserves a rematch with GSP. I think diego needs to win one more fight before he gets his title shot and then he faces the winner of GSP-Hughes.

This was one of those fights that Dana should have made instead of giving us the garbage fight with Hughes and Lytle.
More then anything, Diego needs to experiance what fighting a champion fighter like Matt Hughes would be like! Win, Lose, or Draw, he can take what he got from that fight and improve himself as a fighter.
If this match were to be made could Diego win? Most Definitly! The man has the skills! But I wouldn't count Matt Hughes out! He has proven that he is the comeback king!

I agree that this fight should be on the next UFC card instead of Hughes/Lytle. Who really thinks that Lytle stands a chance with Hughes? I personally don't think that Diego stands a chance with him right now either, especially with Hughes coming off that ugly loss. IMO, Matt would destroy Diego. It would be entertaining, and it'd be a good clip for the next Ultimate Knockouts video.
This fight isn't even worth debating.

[quote=Omaplata] He's 42-5 in his MMA career.

Yes, we know he's 42-5 but why do you think it would only stop at 5? Diego is very capable of beating Hughes as is Hughes beating Diego, this would be a great match-up but IMO Diego would win thus making it 6...

I would like to think Diego would win. But, that probably wouldn't happen. That's not saying Diego couldn't win, because he could.

I've never been a Diego fan but I've come to respect him a lot after watching his last series of fights. He's very opportunistic and is very hungry - this guy really wants a title shot. His KO of Riggs by knee was perfectly timed - he nailed him just after Riggs got off of the floor.
I'm also not a Hughes fan either but I give him a lot of respect for what he's done in the WW division - 42-5 is no slouch of a record....but, Hughes seems to have lost a step or two in his last two fights. Now, maybe that's because he's was complacent and just thought he would always be able to figure out how to win. Maybe he can pull it together and get back in winning form, that's certainly possible.
However, I think I have to go with Sanchez for this fight - he's just hungrier and I see him improving dramatically everytime he fights. And he's always in awesome shape so I don't think Hughes can wear him down. Anyway, it should be a helluv a match, and a very close fight.

I disagree. I think diego should fight GSP. Hughes shouldnt be fighting this chump on UFC 68. He should be fighting Diego for the number one contender
