adding another weightclass to UFC

would the ufc consider adding straweight (115lbs) weight class? currently its the only weight class that doesnt exist for the NSAC.

theres a great fighter fighting for Shooto right now and his name is Rombaa Somdet. he is the most well known Thai mma fighter, and thats because most thai fighters are of smaller stature. hes the 115lbs champion in Shooto, but he would have a hard time in the ufc because everybodys bigger then him. hes 8-2 in MMA, has a 6-0 kickboxing record and even had a grappling match in shooto.

Is this a bad joke? There is hardly the depth to support a bantamweight division and you somehow think there is the depth at 115 pounds? It will never happen as there are so few western fighters who could make that weight. In Asia the average height and weight is considerably lower which makes it easier to find fighters.

in shooto there is 115lbs division and somdet is the champion.

how can you say that about the bw division? theres plenty torres, faber, cruz, mizugaki, banuelos, valencia, jorgensen, benavidez, bowles, fabiano, page, barao, picket...

why do they have to be western? ufc goes global and they acquire fighters from all countries.

To each their own I suppose. I never thought I'd ever get into WEC, but straw weight... that'd be a hard pill to swallow. Not the most masculine of weight class

I meant flyweight but you brought up Shooto and got me all screwed up since BW in Shooto is FW in the US.

Say what you like, but I'm just not interested in watching men that small fight.

Favourite Fighters:

HW: Junior Dos Santos
LHW: Gegard Mousasi
MW: Anderson Silva

people are naturally getting bigger all the time, in the early 1900's am pretty sure the average height was like 5'2 or 4 or something now its like 5'8 or 9, So its pretty hard these days to get enough guys that weigh around 115. Plus strength plays a big part in MMA and its pretty hard to weigh 115 and be strong, where as in boxing(which have these divisions) strength isnt that big of a factor.
