Yea the legit number one heavyweight in the world is in danger of having an imaginary hype bubble exploded.

I think Shane Carwin is a handful for any Heavyweight in the world. Shane gassed primarily because of poor decision making - had he controlled himself rather than went all out crazy on Brock for 4 minutes we probably would have had a new champion crowned that night. This is a mistake i doubt he would make again. If it truly where a deficiency in his cardio (which i find hard to believe coming from the Jackson camp) then again this would obviously be something they would address.

I sincerely doubt we will see Shane gas in that manner again.

With regard to a fight against Cain, i think the champs best bet would be to try and get the fight to the ground. He should be able too, but Carwin was able to prevent Brocks takedowns so who knows. If Carwin fought smart, possibly implementing a similar game plan to the one he used against Mir, then Cain could find himself in trouble. And if you stand and box with Carwin, there is a strong chance he will catch you - if he does, goodnight.

Obviously Cain would be the favourite, i just genuinely believe that Carwin is Cain's most difficult match up. I think Cain will overcome JDS easier than he would Shane.

And i certainly dont think any of them will hold the title for an extended period of time.

I'm a little surprised at how certain everyone is that Cain is going to rule the division for a long time.

Cain is a very good fighter, and I'm really glad he beat Lesnar, but I think it's a little early to be calling him a lock on the belt for years and years. His striking looked awesome against Lesnar, but thats in part because Lesnar's striking is so bloody bad. Combine that with the fact HW's hit so hard, it isn't much of a stretch for any good striker to catch Cain.

It wouldn't surprise me if Cain holds the belt for a long time, but its too early to say with any real confidence. Let me at least see him defend the belt once against a legitimate contender, ie JDS. If he walks through JDS and Carwin, then start talking about holding the belt for years, not now. Have you all forgotten 'the Machida Era'?

Interesting game.

Actually Shane and Shame match. As do enginneer and horse-manure. Coincidence? I think not.
