I'm not sure Fitch is the most important, but he certainly is one of the most interesting cases.

To most fans, he's boring to watch. He doesn't finish fights, and completely shuts down his opponent from ammounting any offense what so ever. While I find it impressive, I also don't find it that entertaining. I don't find him boring to the extent that alot of people do, but I won't apologize for saying Fitch isn't exciting. What I like about the guy though is his attitude. He's a hard worker, a humble guy, gives 110% every time, and is honest. He's not a suckup, and he's not going to kiss anybody's ass. The last part is what really bothers Dana. From a business perspective, I love Dana White, but from a personal perspective I think Dana is a jerk. Dana really only cares if the fights are exciting, and I can understand that from his point of view. However, instead of promoting Fitch as the talented fighter he is, Dana trashes him each time he gets the chance, just because Fitch isn't exciting, doesn't kiss Dana's ass, and has admitted that he doesn't like or respect Dana. Guys like Tito who have had issues with Dana in the past are easy to promote because tito has a big, charismatic personality. He puts asses in seats. Fitch doesn't, but consistently puts up huge results that are very hard to argue with. Dana's trapped with Fitch, and that's why it's interesting. A guy who always wins in impressive fashion, and does his job beyond well, but has admitted to not liking you, or respecting you. Dana doesn't respond well to not being respected. But if he cut Fitch out of spite, people would be all over his ass, and the UFC would take a big hit from sports media as a whole.

I love Fitch, and I love how he drives Dana insane.

Lol. I try to time that too during the boring fights. I like Fitch though. Top notch wrestling and he always fights hard. If anyone thinks it's easy to "hold" anyone in the ufc down (excluding Toney) then their kidding themselves.

RIP Jordan Corder. Watch over me from above brother.

I've grown to like Fitch and enjoy his fights... Simply because people boo him and s**t all over the effort that goes into fighting the way he does, it ain't easy!

I'm also learning to appreciate the technicality of wrestling, which makes it much better

Fitch or anyone for that matter does not make MMA as a whole. The other person in that cage and everyone else that put their ass on the line to entertain is makes MMA.

what this thread brought to light for me is not that Fitch is boring. I find his control and GnP entertaining. What I find boring is when a supposed complete MMA fighter gets in the cage with him, they can't seem to sweep or escape and just lay there trying to "hug" him from the bottom in hopes that the ref stands them up. If you want to be a complete MMA fighter, learn to neutralize your opponents strength. Don't complain about Jon or the other great TD artisits, complain about the pathetic excuse of a TD defense their opponents have!...end rant.

If you wanna learn everything about taking an opponent down and controlling him - WATCH JON FITCH's fights!

Fitch has an ability so few fighters have - he can dominate his opponents, nullifying/cancelling their skills, making them useless against him.

So far only GSp has been able to beat him. Because, GSP has the same ability...but on an even higher level than Fitch.

Fitch gets a lot of undeserved hate imo.
He doesn't finnish fights, but he is a beast.
He dominates fights. You don't see him in trouble...Except the GSP fights, he was rarely in trouble in a fight. Mike Pierce had him in a tiny bit of trouble in the 3rd round, but that's all.

Sure...he could be more exciting, but he can't just change over night because some blood-thirsty-knock-out-loving fans want this.

If it wasn't for GSP, the UFC WW champion for the last 2-3 years would have been a guy named Jon Fitch.

You know there's a saying.

It's not about winning...IT'S ABOUT HOW YOU WIN!

Sure he's a solid fighter, but one thing I can't stand are people who fight just to win.
