After Anderson loses to Belfort, will people use this excuse?

'He was too old'. I'm just wondering if the same people who are now saying Anderson will completely destroy Belfort will say Anderson only lost because he was too old. I'd bet money this will be a popular excuse for the Andy fanboys on here. LOL

Some might but I doubt it. If Anderson loses it will be becuase Vitor landed a solid shot that hurt him and then explode into one of his flurries. Pretty much the way Vitor always wins.

That being said I believe Anderson will win this fight. He has great head movement and a solid chin as well as more tools in the stand up game than Vitor. Kicks, knees, elbows, hands ...Anderson can get a ko with all of them. Vitor is pretty much just a boxer technique wise.

The big difference is heart though. Anderson has shown that he can be losing and still come back to win. Vitor has always had problems mentally when it comes to the fight game. He tends to wilt under pressure. The longer the fight goes the more it will favor Anderson.

That is not dead which can eternal lie and withs strange aeons even death may die.

well...he is 36 dude...like it or not...hes getting up there, hes already slower nowadays if you watch his earlier fights

BUT if he really is on that night than 36 or not, the better fighter won, its not like vitor is also in his prime, sure hes younger but hes been through many wars already, im sure both of them wont be 100% in this fight

if AS gets KTFO its because vitor was the better fighter that night, but its pretty much a fact that AS has slowed down

though im hoping the AS from the griffin or maia fight will show up for this fight...if hes on his game like he was in these fights, or the franklin fight...then damn i really see no way of vitor winning

but i really think this is one of his toughest fights to date, vitor is like hendo, always very dangerous but with better striking

vitor has knees and kicks too. silva's might be a better but are they really better if they aren't quicker? i think everything belfort does is quicker in comparison to andy, though andy isn't slow by any means. i think if andy tries to use head movement (tries to dodge belfort's punches) he'll get koed easier than if he backed off from them. yeah, andy has a GREAT chin but i don't see how even he could endure vitor's gnp.

u have a point about having heart vs lack of heart in past fights but based on interviews, i'm guessing this won't be an issue w/ belfort during this fight, that is if it even makes it out of the early rounds, which i don't think it will. andy's been getting caught w/ punches by guys a lot slower than belfort.

It won't be the reason he lost but a factor.

Vitor has kicks and knees but very rarely uses them. Damn near every fight with him he just utilizes his boxing. He relies on his fast hands to win every fight for him and his speed is not enough in this case. He is going up against Silva who has quick hands himself as well as the greatest precision and timing that we have seen in mma. That is going to be the difference in the stand up.

Belfort always interviews well. It always seems like he is highly motivated for a fight but the moment he loses the advantage he wilts and doesn't know what to do.

The way I see this fight going is they exchange in the first round and Andy gets the best of him. Vitor begins to wilt when he sees that he can't just overwhelm is opponent. This will make him more hesitant in the following rounds till Silva puts him down and TKOs him. Probably 3rd round.

Kid there can never be excuses in a fight or life. I tell my clients, I am a personal trainer, that you come to Heath with excuses he will throw your ass out into the street. same thing with a match. No excuses

Vitor is a very legitimate threat to Anderson. I could see him winning by KO, TKO or UD.

belfort didn't wilt against lidell, in my opinion. he fought hard til the end. he was winning the fight til he got hit with one hell of a hook near the end of the fight which put him on his ass. he was winning the fight early but he definitely didn't overwhelm lidell. mid fight it was close but belfort didn't give up. when belfort comes into a big fight well trained and in good physical shape, he doesn't give up, not that i'v seen.

i think it comes down to this. belfort is quick enough to move inside on silva. once this happens, it's all about flurries on silva's head cuz silva definitely won't be able to clinch belfort before belfort lands the flurry. the flurry sets up the gnp, which is the final nail in silva's coffin and probably his career.

it's silva's time to sit front row and watch a faster, more powerful, and simply meaner champion rule the ufc mw division.

what i wonder is if AS beats belfort will he get the respect he deserves? or will vitor just be an over the hill, overrated fighter that never deserved the shot in the 1st place?

every fighter AS beast ppl have excuses for them, ''sonnen sucks at bjj'', ''hendo is old'', ''marquardt is overrated'', ''maia is a gatekeeper'', ''franklin was always average'', ''X was tailor made for him''

i think hes the fighter who ppl give most excuses for the guys he beat, you could do the same to GSP

in fact i want to see the excuse ppl will give if he does manage to beat GSP ''ah he was too small'' probably

its always the same story
