MMA Forum's most unjust victims??
Okay, so let me say first I thought this was best suited for the smack talk section because I could see things getting... "interesting?". Let me also say I love MMAforum, I've been around for years and I'm a lifetime member with very positive reputation as you can see.
Having said all that, there is no doubt that MMAforum like every other MMA forum online has a lot of negative and very biased people condemning a lot of fighters on a regular basis... most of which do not deserve it. My question is, in your opinion... who are the top five most disrespected fighers on this forum that really don't deserve the hate they get.
For me, it reads like this:
1. Anderson Silva
There is no doubt the man has had some strange outings in the octagon. However, it seems none of the blame ever falls on the opisition's shoulders, just the Spider's. He is the greatest fighter of our generation and I find it sad how many people don't appreciate that they get to see him fight live, knowing that so many others will only be able to look his fights up many years down the road and never experience what it was like in person, or live on TV.
2. Rashad Evans
Has a pretty impressive list of victims under his belt, and for some reason still seems to be considered second rate by a vast majority on this forum.
3. Brock Lesnar
Whether you respect or dispise the mans origins as far as fame goes. Every fight he has been in has been very exciting, and has pretty much made the pay per view in which it was featured. He is a world class natural athlete, and regardless of why he got such a quick title shot he made the best of it and defended it twice.
4. Jon Jones
The kid is incredible, we know it, the press knows it, the UFC knows... and you know what?? he knows it!!
5. Mike Bisping
Is he a top ten pound for pound? No, but he brings it every fight... he's usually very entertaining... and while he can be emotional, he truly loves the sport.
So those are mine... we're in smack talk here so feel free to blast me, or agree... what's your group?
Maybe if Anderson didn't disrespect the fans every other fight we as fans wouldn't show him so much disrespect. (He does get some points for begining to speak for himself instead of through Ed)
Michael Bisping is giant egotistical douche bag and a horrible human being who I am sure we would all hate if he was a plumber. He is just a waste of sperm, a load that should have been swallowed.
Nice list OP but don't forget the Safe Pierre. I want to smack people over the head for this kind of name. GSP get's a ton of shit. My recent favorite is the Koscheck fight. People were bitching about him not standing up and when he pretty much stood up for 25 minutes people bitched about him not finishing the fight. He has to knock people out in 1.5 seconds for some people to give him the credit he deserves.
Edit: I noticed there are a lot of people in my post.
Almost All people mentioned in the OP deserve it. Bones has not done anything to deserve hate except get hyped up a lot. He is a young fighter that is going to be champ one day so why not try for it now?
Brock will always have haters..Haters gonna hate....
Evans is a tool bag point blank. The only reason he said he would fight Bones is because Jones said he would and Rashad didnt want to look like a bitch.
Mike Bisping is just out spoken and gets worked up a lot....in turn rubs ppl the wrong way. I think he does a lot of stuff before he thinks.
AS will always be hated some but respected. He let a couple dumb fights ruin his Rep just trying to be flashy. Plus the refusal to speak english just pisses me off when I know he knows the language lol.
But bottom line you can name a Fighter and you will have haters
1. GSP - The guy mauls people. Broke Koscheck's orbital bone. Made hamburger out of Alves' face. Beat the hell out of Fitch. Finished Hughes. Made Penn quit. But everyone calls him "boring"? I don't get it.
2. Jon Fitch - The guy may not have the most intertaining style but he is one of the hardest workers in the UFC. He is a grinder. At least appreciate how amazing his grappling skill sare. The guy fended off chokes from BJ Penn and dominated Penn on the ground for an entire round. How many fighters can say that?
Those are my top 2 right there.
But lets look at the others.
First of all, I thought Cote was actually a good fight, and if you watch it. Anderson hit Cote with shots that normally he KOs guys with. It's not his fault that Cote's head is made of granite. I have watched that fight several times... and other than Cote being a tough SOB, I don't quite see what Anderson did wrong.
How about Leites... please... everytime Anderson made a move towards him he collapsed like a sack of potatoes. Hell even the times he attempted to grapple Leites just folded and covered up, and the grappling was suppose to be where he had the best shot to win. I don't think you can fault a guy for not fighting when his opponent refused to fight him.
So in response to your, every other, comment... I only see one case... and I don't see any valid points otherwise.
Also with a couple of the other suggestions, I completely agree with Jon Fitch and GSP.
... and I actually think Bisping is a good person, just a little immature and emotional. Maybe the guy would be a little nicer if he didn't get so much shit from the MMA community.
Jon Fitch hands down for me. I don't like the guys style but the way some people go on about him you'd think he was a murderer!
Obviously i'll also say Bisping - He acts like an ass sometimes but so do a lot of guys and he gets waaaay more stick when he does than other fighters, people seem to remember when he is a dick and conviently forget when he is being a cool guy - which happens in equal measure.
Another thing regarding Silva, maybe if he would bother to learn to speak english, the fans would not boo him all the time.
That dude fights for years for an american promotion in the USA and he SEEM to doesn't even bother to address these fans.
If I live and work in a foreign country, I would definitely learn how to communicate in the native language.
I mean you don't have to speak perfectly, but if you at least TRY, then I guess people would appreciate the effort no?
Not anything against Silva though, he is the greatest fighter out there but this one I don't get.
BrianRClover summed it up pretty good. It all comes down to emotional intelligence. Most "fans" out there have really low EIQ, if they asked their girls about fighters , maybe they'd get a clearer picture:cool03:
Brock Lesnar, no fighter gets more crap for so little than Lesnar.
Silva, Evans, and Bisping they get trashed but they campaign for the attention.
