I don't think you are typical of gamers.

When I search for the best selling games for Xbox 360 or playstation 3 for this year or all time I never get more than 3 sports games in the top 10 and never higher than 6. All of the others are focused on killing. Except grand theft auto.

I would bet that hunters play more real sports than gamers play pretend ones. judging from sales, overwhelmingly Gamers prefer to pretend to kill.

Why do you think that is?
I'm not totally sure, there could be several factors. Obviously it's fun for many people, to have a bunch of friends, or even strangers all running around trying to shoot the other. It's also a way for some to release aggression. GTA isn't about killing to me much at all. You do shoot people but also drive lots of vehicles, get chased, you have to be a ninja sometimes. It's just fun to me, nothing more nothing less. First person shooters will always be popular as they generally create the best online multiplayer gaming experience for most, because people like to shoot things and destroy things.

Thanks for my daily neg rep too, after I spread ill throw you another.

They have been pushing war games like the CoD series ever sin ce the war in Iraq began (and even earlier). Suddenly there was a huge influx in both movies and games based on war. Now the first person shooter genre has taken over and pushed many gamers like me to the fringes. I hate the rehashed CoD games that get released every year; same game with a new paint coat. It really is sad what passes for innovation these days.

Personally I am having a ton of fun playing the newish Zelda game and Star Wars ToR. I guess both those games technically have killing in them, but it's kinda different!

I don't mean to single out gamers although I think a little introspection on your own base instincts couldn't hurt.

here is a quote from Conservation magazine in 2004.

Quote:
On the average day in Michigan, a car brings down a deer once every eight minutes. In 2002, more than 100 black bears died on North Carolina roads. And in a single month, a sampling of road kill in just five states counted 15,000 dead reptiles and amphibians, 48,000 mammals, and 77,000 birds.
I wonder how many people in this thread who express hate and contempt for Matt and such Noble concern for innocent animals drive a car?

all of that death just so that you aren't inconvenienced by mass transit or even car pooling.

People like you make me physically ill.

Take a bus for the sake of your own humanity.

edit: @ rygu, must obey the sticky notes. I put a smily face on it that might help. might not.

It's not accidental. The statistics are there for everyone to see yet they CHOOSE to drive anyway. It's so hateful.

People like who? Who are you even taling to?

^^ I was saying hey to ari. don't you read other peoples posts or just mine?
Not to mention they kill more than 40,000 Americans every year. For a little convenience. It's like they haven't evolved at all.

cars are for barbarians. get a bike.

Yes because it was the car's fault on all 40,000 deaths right? Please, I bet drugs/alcohol/bad drivers/young drivers/old drivers accounted for most of those. You should be smarter than that.

Also as for the part I could not quote, Ari referred to sport-hunting almost making her physically ill, and you're talking about driving cars making you physically ill? Have another drink or 8 with that comparison.

And if those people had not been driving a car what would their negligence have caused then? If they were negligent while riding a bus for example?

sorry y’all, I know my posts are confusing. I’m senile remember.

I’m just painting myself a mental picture of these people who hate Matt Hughes so much.

I see them running over bambi and leaving him on the side of the road on their way home from their job at the toxic spewing turd factory. Then, they spend the next 4 hours ignoring their family while they pretend to kill people and mythical creatures on Xbox. Then, they enjoy some buffalo wings that lived a life and died a death too horrible to describe while they jump on the wide world of web and call Matt a “religious f*ckhead” because (A) that's just all the vocabulary they have and (B) they think that qualifies as an informed opinion that others would be interested in hearing from them because they haven't heard it from a thousand other uninformed mental midgets..

Not a pretty picture.

Time for my meds.
