yeah -- while i understand your point Emer it would at least allow people to control their own stats. Some people wont have time to put in but that also mirrors the real world of MMA training. I think the bigger issue would be having a lopsided draft.
With that said, and as Eric already entioned, we are working on contingencies. This is one of those floating factors which we will only really be able to solidify once the game is in our hands and we can see how it all works in multiplayer/online play.

That's what I was going to say^^
It really does mirror real life training. A person who has more time to "train," therefore will be rewarded come fight night.

Soon. I'm first trying to get us our own section as opposed to a sub section, so training camps could be a sub-section as we'll probably have a lot of threads and posts.

Ok yeah obviously it mirrors real life a bit more but isn't the point of the game so that everyone can experience it. My point is that it will come down to who has good stats and who doesnt and then the players actual skill level kind of goes out the window because he couldnt grind gor 9 hours traight every day like others.
Realism is great but really we want it to be accessible to all and truly skill based so it would only make sense to have all participants be at or around the same level.
There is always the argument that oh anyone can get a flash KO but really it's not going to happen if one guy's stats are like 45 and the other dude is like 96 which is a realistic situation. I can see what you guys are saying but i dont know it just seems kind of flawed and too inaccessible.
At the end of the day it's a game and people want to compete on a level playing field based on actual skill and strategy which can go out the window if certain things are'nt implemented to make sure that situation doesn't happen.
If we all had real fighters from the UFC the stat levels wouldnt be hugely different and the styles would even it out aswell allowing everyone to compete and actualy have a chance.
It's just a huge deterrent for people who cannot devote that time to the game but still want to participate in the tournament. I know it's a simulator but also a game that is supposed to bring the experience home and it just sucks knowing this could hinder many peoples ability to have any sort of fun in this tournament.

hey man, the rules were recently revised.
the tentitive rule is that the higher ranked player will now select the fighter they wish to use from the roster with the underdog/lower-ranked player picking second. This gives the better ranked guy the ability to get his first pick while the lower ranked guy a chance to counter the style of the first with his selection. Players will also be able to choose their own created fighter. That means that even if people are able to max out their fighters at 100 (unlikely, most sports games dont even let you get to the eliete level) you can pick your own 94 ranked guy.
We made this change because it came to light that created fighters will need to finish career mode before playing online. cheers.

No problem man. That's why we left it open for discussion. There are sstill things we can't figure out until the actual game comes out.
But this should be fun as hell.
