So without any further ado, any words before we begin OU?
The details of my life are quite inconsequential... very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.
Liza: Errrrrrr......that's great......
What's your real name?
Steven Jones, my twitter gives that one away lol @stevenj0nes
You have a nickname your friends call you by?
Not really. Occasionally I get variations of Steven(Steve,Steveo)
Where are you from?
Born and raised in Lawton/Ft.Sill,Oklahoma. Military town if you can't tell
Only child? You have any siblings?
Twin sister and older sister(4 years older).
What do you do for a living?
I work for a company that sells and services copy/fax machines. I take and dispatch service calls and bill customers for their service contracts.
What are you interests and hobbies aside from MMA?
Big sports fan. College Football, NFL, NBA, MLB, NASCAR you name it. Go to live events for all the sports I just listed. I don't watch club soccer but I'll watch International games especially World Cup. I'm a sports nerd, I listen to sports radio all day at work. I'm a bit of a gamer as well.
What is your goal in life? What would you most like to see yourself achieving?
I wish I knew lol. I don't have any real targets or goals at the moment. Just trying to save up what I can and try to enjoy things from time to time.
What was it about MMA that got you hooked in the first place?
I don't know if I can point to any specific aspects of MMA that drew me in. Bottom line is I just found it entertaining. Fights can end at any moment. Early on it wasn't about appreciation of skill, I just enjoyed watching the action and being on the edge of my seat during an action packed fight.
Who is your favourite fighter and why?
My original favorite is Chuck Liddell. He will always be my all time favorite. Nothing will ever match his style of fighting and how much I enjoyed watching him fight at his peak. Early on I was also a fan of Franklin and Hughes.
My favorite currently active fighter would be Dan Henderson, Wanderlei a close 2nd. For many of the same reasons why I loved Chuck. Hendo is a warrior. He has been in so many classic fights and provided so many great moments.
My favorite fighter currently outside the UFC would be Douglas Lima. I started watching him in MFC and fell in love with his style.
I have been a Nick Diaz fan for a long time as well as Nate. But it's hard to have same level of appreciation for them as I do for the others mentioned. JDS, Uncle Creepy, Chandler, Hendricks, Hunt, Hawn, Faber are few more favs
Which fighter can't you stand and why?
There are a few lol. I hate Brock, Barnett, Tito, Chael and Overeem to name a few. Tito is the fighter I hate the most all time. I can't stand Tito. I think everyone I mentioned are complete douche bags all with their own gimmicks. Overeem doesn't have the same level of gimmick but IMO he is a very average fighter that achieved all his success when he started using illegal PEDs. The fact that he denied it for so long only to fail one of the 1st real test he had really grinds my gears lol
For Barnett I just hate him when he does his wrestling gimmick. I hate it.
Favourite fight of all time?
Chuck Liddell vs Wanderlei Silva and Chuck Liddell vs Tito Ortiz 2
Favourite MMA Card of all time?
That's tough. Two fairly recent cards come to mind with UFC on Fuel in Japan: Wanderlei vs Stann is one. The main event was amazing and watching both Wanderlei and Hunt win to end the card left me with the best feeling to end a card that I can remember.
UFC 139 featuring the instant classic Hendo vs Shogun is another. Add in finishes from Wanderlei and Faber and this card will always be special to me. It also featured the last UFC win of Miguel Torres, who at his peak was one of my favorites and most exciting fighters I have ever seen.
What's the worst MMA fight you've ever seen?
The worst fight for me has to be Chuck Liddell vs Rashad Evans. I hated Rashad at that time and the devastating KO he landed on Chuck made me sick. It was the worst feeling I remember as a fan.
Rolles Gracie vs Joey Beltran is a fight that will always stick in my mind as completely unwatchable.
If you had Joe Silva's job for one night, put together your dream UFC Card! And what would your predictions be?
Chuck Liddell vs Tito Ortiz 3-
Tito was about to receive his 3rd ass whoopin from Chuck when he got injured and Ace had to step in. Tito deserves that 3rd beatdown.
Dan Henderson vs Shogun-
just to see 2 warriors go to war again.
Fedor vs Brock-
just to see Fedor totally dominate Brock. It would bring a huge smile to my face.
Wanderlei vs Melvin Manhoef-
This is can't miss fireworks. Hopefully ending in Wanderlei getting the KO. Credit to GDP for getting this dream stuck in my head.
Douglas Lima vs Nick Diaz-
great style matchup and they will both bring it. Nick by UD.
Rich Franklin vs Michael
Style matchup to entertain and Bisping doesn't have power to hurt Ace. Ace by UD.
I'll keep the rest brief.
JDS vs Reem-
JDS by KO rd 1
Aldo vs Melendez-
Hendricks vs Lombard-
Vitor vs Mousasi-
Chandler vs Pettis-
Dana White...Good? or Bad for the sport of MMA.
I think Dana did a lot of good early on but I don't think he currently good for the UFC and certainly not MMA in general. I don't want to undersell what he did early on for the UFC and MMA but IMO he has done all good he can. At this point there are far more qualified people out there that could help take it to the next level. Dana is no longer what the sport needs to grow and he isn't the person that needs to be in the spotlight moving forward.
Where do you want to see yourself 10 years?
I can't even imagine. Life was so different 10 years ago I don't know what to expect for the next 10. I hope to be healthy, that's about as far as I can go.
Where do you see the UFC in 10 years?
Wishful thinking but Dana fades into the background while a real commissioner steps forward. ESPN will hold the UFC contract instead of FOX. Dan Henderson vs Shogun 12 will be the 1st fight on ESPN
