So my friend, what made you become a fan of MMA?
I started with the 1st season of TUF and I've been hooked ever since. I remember not even paying attention, I just had the TV on, then the fight started and it got my attention. Went to Youtube that night and watched all the MMA I could.
Who is your favorite fighter or fighters in MMA and why?
I think most people know my favorite fight is Rashad. Honestly, the reason why he is my favorite is sorta racist. I started watching TUF season 2 from the beginning and I gravitated towards 2 guys, Rashad and Luke Cummo. Why? Because Luke Cummo was the nerd of the bunch and I GUESS I most identify with him. And Rashad, because he was the black guy that wasn't over the top. Melvin was too much for me, his attitude, although I'm a Guillard fan now. Rashad was also constantly the underdog but he didn't care, he said he was going to win and did. I respect that.
Is there any fighter that you dislike?
Nah, I'm a fan of all fighters. I even like Tito, although I don't have a lot of positive things to say about him.
I don't think that many people have many nice things to say about Tito.
Poor guy, he's been through a lot lately, and he's still one of the most hated figures in MMA.
So what about outside of MMA? (Boxer, K-1, etc.)
Huge Remy Bonjasky fan, him and Badr Hari, Ernesto Hoost, Peter Aerts, Alistair Overeem although he's MMA too. Also a bunch of Muay Thai guys in Thailand who's names I can't spell.
So how do you feel about Overeem bouncing between MMA and K-1? Many people dislike it because he is the Strikeforce champion. Your thoughts?
I wish he'd defend his title more, but he goes where the money is and I can't blame him. I just enjoy watching him fight period, I hope he comes to the UFC one day. He'd wreck the HW division IMO.
It sure would make things interesting!
Which style of Martial Arts do you like to see the most?
Muay Thai standing, it's the most devastating striking style IMO. Also I'm a fan of takedowns, don't know why, I just like to see em. On the ground, either really slick BJJ a la Damien Maia or Shogun (His sweeps are pure genius) Or really good wrestling.
Do you train in any specific art yourself?
I mostly train my stand up these days, which is a boxing and Muay Thai hybrid. I guess you could call it thai boxing but I don't use elbows... so I call it a hybrid.
What was the first MMA fight that you saw? If you can remember.
I think one of the fights on the 1st season of TUF. But the Forrest Griffin vs Stephen Bonnar fight is the one that stuck in my memory.
Forrest and Bonnar relly beat on each other that night. I think that anyone who see's it would always remember it! Moving on!
How about a favorite Kun Fu Movie?
I've had a recent revival of watching kung fu movies. But I have several. Any Tony Jaa movie, and a movie called IP man. Youtube a fight scene from it, it's amazing.
Now tell me what your favorite fight or fights are.
Rashad vs. Chuck, Remy Bonjasky vs Alistair Overeem, Alistair Overeem vs. Badr Hari, Shogun vs. Lyoto 1 and 2, Shogun vs. Rampage, GG vs. CroCop
Gonzaga/Cro Cop made me pretty sad. Remy and Overeem's fight was awesome though!
What is your favorite woman’s MMA fight?
Uhm.. hard to say.. I think Carano vs. Cyborg. Don't hate me please.
I wouldn't say hate, maybe just disappointed! I couldn't bear to watch Cyborg mess up Carano's beautiful face.
That's the thing about Carano... she's like an 8 to me.. And yes I am judging her looks on a scale from 1 to 10, don't hate me please
What about Arianny Celeste?
She's a high 8, but not a 9 either. I need some thickness ya know?
Ah I see. Well that means more Arianny and Gina for me!
What is your favorite MMA organization?
Who do you have walking away with the Heavyweight championship out of Lesnar/Velasquez?
My heart says Cain.. but my brain says Lesnar. I really think Cain can pull it off though, but I think it depends on well he works off his back. If he can keep it standing, I'm sure he can beat Brock standing.
I will be pulling for Velasquez as well come fight time!
What is more impressive, a first round (T)KO, a first round submission, or a 5 round dominating decision?
5 round domination. Beating someone and going the distance basically says that your opponent is much of a challenge to you and it's pointless to fight him again.
Ok enough with the silly MMA questions, lets get down to who you are!
Ok SpoKen, what is your name?
How did you stumble across this wonderful place that is MMAForum?
I started with Sherdog and tried to have an intelligent conversation there, and I never found one. Googled "mma forum" and this was the first choice.
I can't even stand lurking around Sherdog's threads. Good choice on the move!
What is your favorite part about this forum?
The people in it. Everyone here loves MMA and everyone here has a story to tell. I love everyone on this site. And the artwork is a nice touch.
So when are we going to see you make another MMA video again?
I've been working on a video I guess in secret for a while now. I'm having a hard time coming up with music choice though, I'll edit something and scrap it because I want it to be perfect. It won't be long though, I promise.
We are all looking forward to it!
What do you do for a living?
I'm a elementary and middle school teacher, also a computer technician.
I wish you were here. My computer just crapped out.
I'd fix it for free too, homie cost.
If you had just 24 hours to live, how would you occupy your time?
Pray a lot, and have all my family and friends meet at one spot and just stay with them until I expire.
If you could have one car no matter what the cost, what would it be?
Ooooooooh... let me think. I'd say... the Ford GT concept or a current year Mustang if I had to keep it street legal.
Ah the Ford GT is definitely a beautiful machine!
It suuuuuuuuuuuuure is.
Well that is all of the time we have for this interview. It was a great one! Thank you SpoKen and I do believe that he accepts +rep anytime! That's it for this week's MMAF All Access! Who will be next? Who know's but keep an eye on your messages for MMAF All Access to see if you are next! Thanks again everybody!
