[OFFICIAL] MMAF ALL ACCESS THREAD

What's up everyone! MMAF All Access is back with another super sweet interview. This guy is an awesome member and a downright cool dude to talk to.

SJ
WIDE OPEN

What's up SJ? How is everything going in your world?

First of all, thank you for doing this interview. It gives me something to do while I am here at my parents house with FEET of snow outside. Sorry about the mess, Hit, I know my bedroom is pretty small, but the dogs calm down after a few minutes they're just excited to see you. Sorry, but my mom won't let me have the door closed when I have boy friends over any more.

Anyway my friend, I have a goal to not filibuster, so I will answer your initial question. Everything is going Mild-Good right now. I recently found out that I might have an allergy to Gluten, which is a bummer, but it seems pretty easy to eat around in 2011. Since then, I've changed my diet and I have been feeling SO much better. I've actually been able to do bag training for 5 days straight after a long layoff, and it's a good change. It feels great to blow off some steam, especially when there is a PPV coming up with a tense matchup like Penn vs Fitch!

The dog is cool. I have a crazy one of my own. I would have had him here, but he jumped out of the car window on the way here. I will pick him up on the ride back home!

Good to hear you are feeling better after the diet change.

What was the reason for you becoming such an avid MMA fan?

I was an avid pro-wrestling fan, so it was a natural transition for me. At the end of my pro-wrestling-watching career, I was purely watching Ring of Honor and NOAH, two shoot-style promotions, so MMA was not a hard transition to make at all. My reason for FULL ON switching to MMA, was because Jason MacDonald was IN THE ULTIMATE FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP at "Ortiz vs. Shamrock 3: The Final Chapter." Jason is the brother of a friend, and grew up very close to my town, so I was very compelled to watch at the time. His opponent was Ed Herman, and it was a short fight. He submitted Herman with an awesome triangle less than 3 minutes in to the fight. That was where I officially started to go back and watch every MMA event I could click my mouse on, and have kept up until now.

Who is you favorite fighter or fighters?

SHOGUN RUA, WANDERLEI SILVA, DAN HENDERSON, MAYHEM MILLER and my boy, JIM MILLER.

When do you think Jim will finally get either a big step up or a title shot?

I am baffled as to why he is fighting Kamal Shalorus next, but I actually think having 2-3 more fights before getting a title shot would be a great thing for Jim. The submission of Oliveira SHOULD have put him one win away from a title shot, but I think he will get one late 11'-early 12'. Miller vs Siver would be a great set up for #1 contendership, but Gray and Pettis are waiting too. :|

I think he is long overdue for a step up and I think the Shalorous fight is a big step backwards for him.

Are there any fighters that you dislike?

*Disclaimer: I am speaking from a personal standpoint of how I THINK our personalities would mesh. I respect ALL fighters SO much and that point cannot be stressed enough in my opinion.*

Dislike their style? Ones that don't have cardio, ever. That is the ultimate disrepect to the fans. (With the exception of Phil Baroni.) And Jake Sheilds!!!! Rawr. I'm not a big fan of his MMA fighting. But, that's not his fault.

Dislike their attitudes? FRANK MIR, Shinya Aoki, Nick Diaz, Jake Sheilds, Michael Bisping, Gray Maynard, Ben Henderson, Josh Koscheck, Tit Ortiz,

Aliyev Mahmud!!!!-- I'm only including this poor guy because of his AMAZING performance at PRIDE 29. If you ever have time, treat yourself to that one. Funniest MMA fight of all time.

Do you watch any other combat sports such as boxing, K-1, etc?

I NEVER miss a K-1. Obviously, I can't always stay up all night for it, but I always set aside time the next day to watch the whole thing. I wish they had more events.

Who is your favorite K-1 fighter to watch?

Ray Sefo and Gökhan Saki, can't choose between them.

What is your favorite kind of martial arts to see in a fight?

JIU-JITSU! A slick transition into a dominant position, into a reversal into a submission, or any combination of that < is great. So satisfying to see, and is often more humbling to an opponent than a KO.

Who do you think is the best MMA striker?

Anderson Silva. No need for personal opinion here. Overeem makes a good argument, but MMA striking is a very different thing and he's lost fights in mma due to strikes too many times to get benefit of the doubt.

What about wrestler?

Probably someone who isn't a big name yet, someone really young. I honestly have never wrestled in my life and don't know who the best is. I am not going to say "Daniel Cormier" and pretend like I really know how good he is. Shoutout to King Mo though, I think Division 1 were too afraid of him, and I think he's the best wrestler in all of MMA..

Who is the best grappler?

Roger Gracie, Jacare or Demian Maia. I guess Shields could be the best, since he can apparently win world titles with the worst hands in mma.

When looking at strikeforce's heavyweight division and the UFC's heavyweight division, which do you think is better?

It's so even that I feel weird picking a side. Speaking objectively, I see no reason that Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos should not have the #1 and #2 spots with how they have handled very, very dangerous opponents. I can not say that any other heavyweights have looked the same, with the exception of Overeem, who has faced much lower level opponents. After that, I have a really hard time justifying why anyone belongs in that #3 spot. Overeem has looked amazing in his recent run, and he could very well come along and make Cain's striking look amateur, and could make his wrestling look weak, I DON'T KNOW. Dos Santos vs Overeem, all I know is that I would DEINITELY pay to see it. I'm losing my 'train of thought' right now, so I am going to digress, give MY top 8 list, and leave it at that.

1.Cain Velasquez -UFC
2.Junior Dos Santos -UFC
3.Alistair Overeem -SF
4.Fabricio Werdum -SF
5.Bigfoot Silva -SF
6.Fedor Emelianenko -SF
7.Brock Lesnar -UFC
8.Shane Carwin -UFC

hehe, Strikeforce sandwich with a UFC bun. ^

Who do you think will win the Strikeforce heavyweight tournament?

If you asked me before the tournament, I would have picked Fedor to steal it. Now, I guess Overeem is the big favorite, but it will be interesting to see how he handles some of these opponents.. I could definitely see Bigfoot giving him some problems, if he is able to beat Werdum.

Are there any woman's mma fights that you enjoyed watching a lot?

Cristiane Cyborg Santos is the queen of blood and destruction. Her last three fights have been ridiculous. They all stand out to me as devastating wins, but the Coenen fight was especially entertaining. Coenen somehow made it into the 3rd round, but we all knew it was soon to be over, and it was. All 3 of her recent fights, so exciting, emotional, and ending with brutal finishes. Marloes Coenen vs Cristiane Cyborg Santos - That's my pick.

Oh, and speaking of women, if you had to pick between Gina Carano, Brittany Palmer or Arianny Celeste, who would you pick?

I've never been the guy to look up, or have crushes on celebs. So I will have to google Brittany Palmer...*click* just give me a second here... *click* ahhh okay... the new UFC ring girl from the WEC! She looks kind of like Eva Evangelina, that's a good thing, but her breasts look a little too hard for me. Gina is hot, but she has had gray balls on her. Arianny on the other hand, is the girl for me. She seems really cool... is that weird that I think I would know she's cool?

Uhh.. I forgot that I need a shower. I'll brb I have to get it like, right now.

*After only a few moments, he returns with dry hair*

Sorry about that, I can continue now. Where were we?

Ok like I was... What is that spot on your... Anyway...

What is more impressive, a (T)KO win, submission win, or a dominating decision win?

A submission win late in a fight leaves the biggest impression on my mind. If a grappler is able to tire out and then complete a submission on an initially fresh opponent, that is a beautiful thing.

Alright enough of these MMA questions, lets get to know you a bit.

Okay man, brace yourself..

Alright SJ, what is your name?

Johnson Paul Green. Most people call me John because I was always ashamed of my name growing up. Now, I think it's funny and it gives me character.. whatever that means.

How did you end up posting on MMAF?

www.google.ca > mma+forum > www.mmaforum.com! It's brilliant marketing. But to answer your question, I lurked for well over a year, and started posting in early 2009 - Whatever I posted probably had to do with GSP, Brock, or a torrent website.

What is your favorite part about this place?

The mods. Seriously though, it's a great environment because of the mods.
DUDEABIDES(L) - #1, the Alpha and Omega, the Lord of the vBookie, this guy has been straight CHILLIN' for years now. What the hell medication is he on? I want some! He is the man, and my main reason for bringing this up, is that the vBookies are ridiculously fun and I appreciate his effort there very much. This is no news to him, I've been sucking up to him since well before he was any mod or admin, he's just so damn COOL, you know?

Agreed. The Dude is beastly around these parts!

What do you do for a living?

I am a greenhouse horticulturist in Nova Scotia.

Where do you hope to be in 5 years?

Hopefully I will have sold enough drugs or done enough under the table to pay off my (small) student loan payments. If that is the case, It's looking like I will either be living in SW USA, likely California, Scotland, or still in Nova Scotia. It all depends on what work opportunities come up at this point.

If you had 24 hours to live, how would you spend your time?

If I was told this right now? Hmmm.. well I have a jar of zoomers with me... so I would: grab that out of the drawer to my right > go deep, at least 5 grams, and spend 30-45 mins packing up some water, some cannabis, and some other supplies. I would say goodbye to all of my families animals probably, then I would then SMOKE some of the cannabis for a good kick start> take the jar of mushrooms with me> grab my skateboard> and head down to my river for some peaceful, but probably horrible reflection time. I would probably get my girl friend to meet me down there at some point, I don't know! but now that I'm realizing, Jesus Christ this is a morbid ******* question man, my mind is going too deep and I don't want to go there with it! can we move on??? Please!?

If you could have any car, what would it be?

I don't even know any cars unfortunately. You guys are all so cool with your auto knowledge.. I don't know ANYTHING. I just learned to replace the chain on my bike.

Eh gotta start somewhere!

Well that is all the time we have this month MMAF! Please thank SJ for taking the time out of his schedule to do this for us. Keep an eye on your inbox for MMAf All Access as YOU could be next!

You were a huge pro wrestling fan, you like Saki and have feelings for dudeabides. All good points in my book. :)
Good job!

For SJ: I hope you one day make it here:

Nobody around like Suicide Johnson :thumb01: Hilarious as always, and who couldn't be impressed with an MMA guy who doesn't miss a K-1 show. Although, I did hear that mod he's going on about up there gets that forum stuff done at his work computer while ignoring his real job (and probably shouldn't get into the whole drug regimen thing here outside of the Vip).
