With the UFC finally choosing to organize a season composed of legitimate, true heavyweights for the Ultimate Fighter (something that they’re heavyweight division has been needing, desperate for recruits with legitimate small circuit experience), it may finally be a return to the years of solid Ultimate Fighter competition.
It’s not uncommon for me to watch the Ultimate Fighter for one fighter, or maybe two. I watched TUF 3 for Ed Herman, TUF 4 for Travis Lutter (in the cage) and Mikey Burnett (in the house) and TUF 5 for Joe Lauzon, but I know I’m not the only one who’s become disenchanted and, frankly, bored with the series lately.
Of course, the personalities (and you all know who I’m talking about) make for a great series that gets a lot of attention from casual, reality TV viewers. Zuffa may have come across a way to return credibility to the series among those who know the importance of using the series from recruiting, while bringing attention to the series through a single personality we can all see at the epicenter of all the drama: Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson.
Great read. Two comments: Junk is 0-1 in the UFC, not 1-0. And Sims lost the second fight to Mir by KO, not armbar.
Yeah, the 1-0 bit, clearly a typo. It's been a long time since I've watched the tape of the Sims vs. Mir II bout. I'll have to go back and rewatch both of them. You're right, of course, though.
This is going to be a very interesting season.
I like how the ufc is putting good fighters on the show now
I think TUF 7 had to have had the most unexpierienced fighters yet.
But at the same time because of my own personal bias, Im mad that they made it a heavyweight season, becuase before they did that, I knew a couple people who were supposed to be on the show. one of them a person who i used to train with, he even had to cancell his main event fight at king of the cage canada, just becuase he was gunna be on the show

They needed to have a heavyweight season of the show. They need the recruits, they need the talent and they need the excitement that comes with seeing how big and how powerful these heavyweights are.
If you're buddy's in the house, good for him. My understanding is that there won't be preliminary fights this season (which is great for Kimbo), but if he makes the second round and this becomes an exciting season, hopefully he'll make the TUF finale and end up in the UFC.
I see a lot of guys getting UFC contracts off of this show. Kimbo is one of the ones I'm not sure about. However, the UFC definitely knows that this is an opportunity to bring in great heavyweights and find a solid future champion (and Roy Nelson could make his way into title contention pretty quickly, given how thin the division is right now and how close he's come to beating two really good fighters).
TUF 10 will be great for the UFC. They have fighters with a lot more potential than ever imo. I'm picking Roy Nelson to win it, although I think he should have just gone straight into the UFC already.
But hopefully the show will expand his fanbase, because as far as I know, I might be his only fan on the whole forum.
Oh and I don't count the Rothwell fight or the Monson fight as losses. More like robberies.
