My thoughts on Fedor vs. Werdum.

There is not much to add to the discussion at this point in the life cycle of this story, but I’m going to add my two cents anyway, as well as a short note I jotted down following the live coverage.

pretty good article, but i may have missed the point in that, do you think that too many people fell into the belief that fedor was unbeatable or that there will never be an undefeated fighter in mma as there are far too many ways to win and lose (which both i can say i agree with).

Both of those points are in there.

yea reading it a second time i think i get your point...care to mention specifically who you were surprised at in your fellow jounalists? its no secret that every fighter takes a loss at some point, but hey, its fedor-the closest thing to GOAT to enter MMA.

and now that article reminded me, im gonna try to gif that anderson loss to chonnan-epic lulz.

Honestly, it's kinda shady to call people out in an article. I'll say this: there's a section of journalists who get paid more than I do, and of the journalists in that section, there were one or two that comment wasn't directed at.

Josh Gross took it the way I thought people should. He was surprised. He wasn't shocked. He handled it with some level of composure and some regard for the humanity of the moment. There were other people there who didn't.

^ ah, ok i think i know who you meant (didn't really expect you to name, names by the way lol). i don't know about you but i had quite a time watching the showtime guys who were talking up fedor feel oh so wrong with their commentary.

I'm happy to talk about my feelings towards members of the media in private. Most of the people who I talk to at events know how I feel and why I feel that way about a number of people, I just try to keep the specific names out of it on the message boards and in my articles.

As far as the commentary goes, I honestly think that Gus Johnson should have been fired after his comments during the fight instigated by the Cesar Gracie camp at Strikeforce Nashville. Strikeforce ended up doing damage control with their fighters, but I think someone at Showtime should have looked at this guy and said (a) his commentary is weak and (b) he periodically says things that are simply inexcusable and compound damage to a product that we're broadcasting.

That's a professional opinion, so I don't mind voicing it. It's not because I personally dislike the guy. I don't know him. I just think he's causing a lot of problems, and those problems are reason for him to be removed from his job or sent to cover lower level Strikeforce events, like Challengers Series.

I agree. Gus johnson has gotta go, He really has no idea what he's talking about half the time. I'm sure they can find someone better to do the commentary.
