Some Contrasts: Strikeforce: St. Louis and TUF 12 Finale
Some thoughts, following Strikeforce: St. Louis and the Finale of the Ultimate Fighter 12.
Personally, I found the UFC event way more entertaining than the Strikeforce event. But I tend to find longer, more technical bouts more fun and more interesting to watch. I understand that enjoyment is subjective, so I tried to leave my opinions out of this one and focus on the mainstream fans and what is accepted in terms of "how to attract consumers" for the MMA product.

Strikeforce put on just under a half-hour of fighting in the main card of the Strikeforce: St. Louis Event, more than half of which was Ovince St. Preux (9-4 MMA)
taking home a Unanimous Decision. With four (T)KO wins on the main card of the event (two in under a minute) there was obviously not much of a concern of the fans who want knockouts not getting what they wanted, as opposed to the TUF 12 main card, which featured a grand total of 0 finishes.
The sheer amount of fighting (based on time) that was on each event isn’t that interesting to most, but it does frame the debate that people seem to be starting in comparing the two events.
