Well... In most cases, Muay Thai is becoming the most readily applicable striking discipling in MMA. Not only is it potent in its punching and kicking, but in the MMA realm where fights do not stop once a clinch is entered, its addressing of the clinch with Knees and Elbows is most welcome.

We have a thread on that here where Ironman and myself address those topics.

I don't think so. The best style is freestyle, so your not limited to a single style. It is definately one of the best foundation to have.

You know what, it all depends on the coaches you have. If you live in Thailand, yes it is, but other than that, not really.

In a way i do believe it is the best, in other ways not. In close tight clinch areas yeah muay thai is the best with knees and elbows in distance though i prefer the tradition boxing and kick boxing style.

To put it simply, I think Muay Thai is the best stand-up to train because in boxing/kickboxing you don't get trained to fight from within the clinch so in MMA if you get close to a kickboxer and clinch (great example: chuck liddell), they will likely not have a good answer to it.
