How to in-fight with punches in Muay Thai? (As a southpaw)

Ok im used to being on the outside but in Muay thai you get a ton of lanky guys with long reach and I find them very hard to punch in the face!

Im happy and feel superior staying in kicking range but it feels like im doing TKD not Muay Thai.

The jab cross is an ever present threat when facing these lanky guys so how do you suggest I close the distance to land punches without getting caught on the way in?

What combos/ tactics do you suggest for closing into punching range and landing some effective punches?

Manmy thanks!
