i just think that the Muay Thai stance would suit the MMA genre and be more effective than the normal boxing stance.
Muay Thai enables you to be ready to move no matter what. Boxing stances are usually meant to cover the upper body and nothing else.

Traditionally, the boxer's stance is more angled in order to create a smaller opening to the anterior torso. It also allows the shoulder to more effectively protect the chin, boxers can position their feet at this angle because they dont have to worry about sweeps and low kicks. Muay Thai stance squares the hips toward the opponent, ready to give and receive kicks and emphasizes turning range for left jab/hook

Nice post

As for MMA stance, I think it's kind of a combination between boxing and Muay Thai stances. Hands at chin like boxing, 50/50 weight distribution on feet like boxing, but hips squared towards opponent like Muay Thai. I'm not sure if that ends up being the kickboxing stance?

Like the two previous posters wrote, somebody who's standing in the boxer stance will be more prone to losing their balance when receiving a leg kick. It's also harder to do most of the usual kicks used i MMA from that position.

I would've thought that a full muay thai/boxing stance would leave you more vulnerable to take-downs.

What has been described sounds good as you can move(away) much quicker.

I'm not a fan of the square on stance that much, too much opening to the stomach for front kicks and side kicks.

Leaving the body a little more open isnt very consequential compared to the gained proficiency in striking, kicking and defense in either. You can use the wider opening to the midsection if you counter with knee strikes/kicks/uppercuts

Nothing, same rules, they just teach it with a different stance.

When you see boxers leaving their left arm down as a long range weapon, the "dutch" style stance is the same as that, but with the leg instead. You put %80 weight on the back leg and you like hover your left leg up and down. It's like a jab but using your leg.

If I'm correct, the hands are different too. Instead of tucking your elbows into your body and putting your hands by your temple, your turn your forearms outwards as if you were blocking a jab.

Here is Ernesto Hoost in a Dutch Stance
