Why are knees to the head and body in the UFC so much weaker than knees in Muay Thai

I'm don't know much about Muay Thai, but Muay Thai knees look so much stronger than a UFC or Pride knee to the head and body. Knee or two in Muay Thai equal a knockout from fights which I've seen that are between Top 15 in their weight class. UFC or Pride a knee or two equal two strong punches to the head that won't knock you out (ok maybe one out of every hundred fights you see one or two that knock somebody out.)

i think its because most of the people doing the muay thai r trained almost exclusively in that where in the ufc they have many different styles that they use instead of training just one... i dont know if its true but thats wat just came to my mind

Two words Anderson Silva But he seems to fight strictly Muay Thai and BJJ. His knees ripped Franklin apart.

If nothing else, I would think that cleaner knees can be delivered in Muay Thai because the rules dont encompass grappling. I think that the rules of clinching are stricter in Muay Thai, and they yield more effective knee strikes. Plus, they dont have to worry that someone will do something crazy and like...plow through a knee to attempt a takedown or who the hell knows what. But this is just a guess, since I have not seen much MT from Thailand, I've got little in this matter to compare MMA to.

Most of the guys in ufc who USE knees don't TRAIN them as much as a Muay thai fighter.

ive noticed the same thing that UFC knees are weaker, but there ARE a couple guys in the UFC that have strong knees. i've seen some knockouts from knee strikes, and man, it's pretty vicious.

Well if you watch Wanderlei Silva vs. Rampage(2? Im pretty sure) Wandy delivers quite a few knees to Rampage and it takes a while to put him down. I really am curious why they seem weaker or dont do as much damage?
