Fight Science

I posted a portion of a video on my blog regarding the Science of the Muay Thai knee. I was able to locate the entire video on google. It's called Fight Science. It's posted here:

National Geographic Fight Science « Muay Thai Techniques

Thanks.

Unfortunatly not a lot of science, just good old fashioned entertainment. For instance, the TKD guy and his power punch. TKD doesn't emphasize punches (kicks like crazy), but he had the hardest punch. Could it be because he outweighed everyone by 20-30 lbs. Probably so.

That Ninja dude cracked me up! His cat like reflexes and death touch...Classic...

I downloaded Fight Science, it was quite interesting although a bit too geeky for my taste with all the mean faces and stuff.

What really annoyed me was that they didn't use the opportunity to test the power of a roundhouse kick and compare it to the other kicks, when they had a muay thai fighter there handy.

I'd like to know the differences in power between different thrusting type kicks, such as a front thrust kick (as in muay thai) and a side kick - does anyone even use these anymore?

oh man i totally use them....like when someone rushes in on you....quick thrust kick in the solarplexes....or if i've missed with a high roundhouse and i'm still turning i touch quickly on the ground with my kicking foot then side kick to the stomach or try for the head...there's still lots of use...plus a lot of people think it's old so they don't expect it
