I have a couple things to ask. I have recently started taking muay thai and we have 2 hour classes, and the first hour is a bunch of bodyweight exercises, such as pushups abs, other bodyweight exercises, and cardio. I am planning to go every 5-6 days a week is this okay? because i have heard pushups should not be done everyday. Also i used to workout regularly but then i had taken a huge gap and now i have recently started again and after a workout i usually feel sore for the next day or 2 so it becomes difficult for me to do other things throughout the day. After, i start working out regularly again will i stop feeling really sore, the same goes with after i train in muay thai i feel quite sore for a long time, is this only because i am a beginner? Lastly, before sleeping should i do pushups and work on abs every night so that i can be able to do the workouts they make me do in muay thai without stopping so fast?

Thanks

At the start youre going to be sore, especially if you go 5 times a week. It's fine. I always think "soreness is the feeling of muscles growing". Recovery is important. Make sure you get a decent rest everyday. Youre going to feel the gains if you keep going, and exercises that were difficult for you will feel easier based on this growth.

Just make sure youre doing proper technique of the exercises (assuming your instructors know what theyre doing), so you don't get hurt. I distinguish hurt vs soreness (hurt is joint, bone, tearing etc.)

It's really up to you about doing your own exercises. Like I said, if you go regurlarly youll be able to do more. Try to push yourself in classes, but remember the pace they set is usually the "ideal", a goal to be strived for but not necessarily attained.

Also, never just stop outright, if the pace is fast go slower, get in hold positions for push ups/ab work, keep moving etc. These we'll keep you improving.

+ Nutrition

I agree with what Iuanes is saying. Don't always listen to what everyone else is doing. Listen to your body.
You also want to make sure your nutrition is on point to help recover as quickly as possible. If you train like a beast but eat like shit you're going to quickly end up burning out.

A Legend is Born: The Spinning Elbow

Spinning Elbow

We are talking about ourselves here. Seriously, we have just launched and obviously, we are very excited.

Introduction

A little introduction, we are a couple of young and passionate people who really want to bring the discipline of Muay Thai to the world. We figured the best way to do that was join the MMA and beat McGregor (K.O) and announce Muay Thai to the world but we are in no shape and we like how our faces look.

The best next thing was provide Muay Thai equipment to the world. So we opened up a store. Believe me, this is not easy. It's like being in the cage with ten McGregor's, no referee, being punched in the face repeatedly and yeah, my mouthguard flew off my mouth like 5 punches ago. But we'll do it.

Why Spinning Elbow?

Well, there are a couple of reasons,

I love the Spinning Elbow. It's like boom, out of nowhere. People say do not show your back but that's exactly how you set up for a Spinning Elbow. And it hurts.
Every other Muay Thai online store is like muaythai this and muaythai that. We wanted something different. Something that actually tells people what we are about.
The domain name was free. Guys, .coms are running out and we need to take what we get.
Our Aim

We actually are very ambitious, we would actually want Buakaw to be our brand ambassador us some day. But we can only get there if everyone who interacts with Spinning Elbow, leaves with a smile(That sentence would not make sense if you take it out of context). So our immediate aim is to keep you guys happy.

This means that if there is anything you want, just email us at hello@spinningelbow.com. If there is something you specific you are looking for that's not in the store just email us and we'll do everything we can to fetch it for you.

As of now, we have Fairtex and Twins Special onboard and we are looking into getting more Thailand Based Muay Thai Brands on Spinning Elbow. They should be up soon.

Wish us good luck guys and go get like a shorts or gloves or something.

Do it all! The more you train the more your body will adapt. You will start to get all the benefits after a couple weeks and it will start getting easier and easier.

Pushups worsen preexisting conditions with the neck and shoulders if you already have an upper body kyphosis. A kyphosis is where your neck is prone to stick out forward ahead of your body as you walk and your shoulders are rounded forward where your hands, sitting at rest, will have the thumb nails facing eachtoher instead of forward. Conor McGregor has a gnarly kyphosis.

does this mean conor shouldn't do pushups? no, but if you are going to do a lot of pushups just make sure you do equal amounts or maybe even more of upper back pull-exercises. In Muay Thai we are constantly pushing away from our bodies, like a push up, so we tend to develop a kyphosis which could lead to shoulder and neck issues. mitigate that by doing the appropriate amount of upper back exercises and youll be fine.

pushups and abs before bed ****s up my sleeping pattern but thats just me.
