When ya'll wrap your hands for muay thai, do you wrap your thumb or not. I go with a traditional muay thai wrap, but some people who also use that wrap don't wrap the thumb. Or they don't wrap the thumb real well. Just wondering how ya'll do it.
I don't wrap the thumb even though I've sprained it badly so many times. I don't like it to be restricted, especially while executing a clinch. I always thought the traditional muay thai wrapping left out the thumb, whereas a boxing wrap was sure to protect the thumb well.
ya i don't wrap the thumb either...i make the little knuckle pad then wrap between my fingers....which apperently is actually illegal in ammateur boxing...didn't know till the other day...but ya gives me so much more mobility...especially if i'm using mma gloves too
Yeah they frown upon you wrapping between the fingers in boxing. But I like it and it helps , I like the Muay Thai wrap better than the boxing wrap. It ust seems to protect your hand more.
No. I do not wrap my thumb. When I was 15 I broke my thumb punching a guy and that ******* sucked. I was more of a reckless power thrower in those days, I threw my right hand and missed him except for my thumb. I bet the guy has a funky scar on his face, but I have limited range of movement in my thumb :*(
