Does anyone train in Melbourne or know of any good Muay Thai gyms here?

I have checked out 'Malvern Mixed Martial Arts' and 'Dominance' in Richmond, but didn't really like either. Anyone know of anywhere else?

I train down there - but not in Muay Thai, although from watching them spar and talking with those guys they seam like a switched on group of people

check it out if you've got time but it sounds like it might not be in your area.

Not sure about the OP but I'm interested in a decent Muay Thai place in Melbourne. Would be nice if they catered to BJJ as well because I'm also interested in doing that.

Ok, well depends on what u wanna do with thai. Melb martial arts on Flinders has both, but if ur lookin to fight thai, this is not the best place. It's more class format, teaches the techniques, has oportunities for amateur fights, but thats about it. Dominance (i think) caters for both in richmond with benny smullens. Also try Powerplay in brunswick, joe nader's gym. Finally, if thesee dont suit, Sityodtong is great, but only thai. That in brunswick. Same deal with JTS in richmond. Best to do something with bjj, coz thats the direction the fight scene is heading, with ufc, and mma fights.

Sor Jai Phet (Former JTS) offers Muay thai and MMA training. Denis Kelly runs the mma, and can be contacted on 0420 621 523. Hes a bjj purple belt with about 12 mma fights if im not mistaken? in aust and abroad. The gym has a number of active fighters, for MT and mma, and plenty of good guys to move around with for both stand up and grappling. Best you give denis a call or drop in to have a look.
