Muay Thai Shorts question....

Hi Everyone,
At the risk of sounding stupid, I wanna ask a question about shorts for MT.

I've been training a couple of months and i just wear Nike sweats...but everyone else sports these elaborate MT shorts...

I wanted to to
A) is there any FUNCTIONAL need for MT style shorts? or are they purely aesthetic??
B) What should i be looking for when i buy MT Shorts?
C) Which are the popular brands?
D) What's the quality like? are they worth $30-$40?
E) Any paticular fabric better than the others??
F) What brand do you prefer? Why?

I'd really appreciate detailed genuine responses.....

THANK YOU in advance.....

muay thai shorts are usually shorter than normal fighter shorts because it allows the use of knees more effectivley, know what i mean? Like with a pair of affliction shorts i find that my knees are kind of held back because they go to my kneecap. y muay thai shorts are just a little bit over my kneecap and feels free when i go in for a knee or flying knee, As for the brand i dunno, hope it helps!

I use regular fight shorts for my muay thai. Right now I only train for it though and will most likely never do it competitively. Most fight shorts now days have a broken outseam that is cut up 2-4 inches so you can have better leg kicks. I would deff. get a real pair though if I was interested in fighting.
