Protecting your foot
Sometimes when I'm sparring MT, I'll go in for a thai kick and my opponent will step out and/away and slip past my chin but get caught by the top of my foot, which hurts.
I went to a American Kickboxing school the other day to check it out and I held Thai pads for some of the kickboxers as they were railing heavily on these pads with their foot. Some of these guys have only been at it for a few months, so I'm sure their foot isn't "conditioned" yet. What's up w/ that? I don't wanna kick w/ my foot, but if my foot ends up hitting somehting I don't want it to hurt how come kickboxers can do this? am I doing something wrong?
