Leg-issue

I have had some issues with my right leg when I throw a round-house strike.

Right now I can throw a body-shot kick with little or no problem, but if I try to kick higher I have a tightness on the inside of the thigh.

Basically there is a tight-spot in the center of the inside leg that starts a few inches in from the groin that runs a few inches to the knee.

Has anyone ran into this before?

I would guess its an issue of flexability. Based on your description, the point of tightness sounds like the tendon. Which connects the inner thigh muscles with the pelvis. Focused stretching, i.e. splits/straddle splits/chinese splits/side stretches should help alleviate the issue. I had a similar problem, only with the lower part of the thigh (where it connects with the knee joint). If not, its a more serious issue, like a pulled muscle, aggravated ligament, etc.

Hey Squirrel, that chinese split seems to do the trick.

I cannot do the full split right now, but used the concept behind it and I am able to stretch the inner thigh this way.

After a series of 10 thirty-second stretching periods I tried kicking again and I am felt much better.
