"Josh Koscheck and Anthony Johnson have verbally agreed to fight each other at UFC 106 on Nov. 21 in Las Vegas, Sherdog.com has learned from a source close to the bout.

Koscheck announced Tuesday on his Twitter account that he would be fighting Nov. 21 in Las Vegas in a co-main event fight.

“I got some big fight news for me,” he wrote. “I am fighting nov 21 in Vegas. Co main event!!! Haha it's on baby!!!!”

Following Brock Lesnar’s withdrawal from his title defense against Shane Carwin, the scheduled UFC 106 co-main event, Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin, became the main event. Reports surfaced later that the UFC was looking to bolster the card with a new co-main, and that now appears to be the case with Koscheck-Johnson.

Koscheck stopped Frank Trigg at UFC 103 in September to rebound from an upset loss to Paulo Thiago in February. Sherdog.com’s No. 5-ranked welterweight, he has 11 UFC wins and four losses. Johnson, 8-2, has won three straight in the Octagon. Most recently he stopped Yoshiyuki Yoshida on Oct. 24. "

Hell yeah!

Hell yeah! I just posted on the other thread about Josh fighting in the co-main event that I would prefer to see Kos fight Rumble. This is great news.

I think Rumble is going to ktfo him pretty quickly. Man I would love to see that! They should put it on Spike because there's no way in hell I'm paying $45 for that card.

Hopefully Johnson will make weight, it's interesting seeing him compete at 170 again I thought he was definitely going to move up. I hope AJ can get the KO, I really hate Kos he's such a dbag. This fights easy to break down Johnson will wanna keep it standing where he has the advantage and Kos will try and take him down. Koscheck's an idiot if he tries to stand with Johnson, Johnson's striking is was better than Kos's, Kos is way too wild, and basically only throws that big overhand right, he would get picked apart standing

This card is way better now, even with the heavyweight championship put off til January. I really look forward to a card where you see Rumble vs Koschek, Little Nog vs Banha Cane, Hazelett vs Parisyan, Saunders vs Davis, Sadollah vs Baroni and of course Tito vs Forrest. Definitely gets a  from me.

He's gonna fight twice in a month?
I guess there's no reason he shouldnt, he certainly doesnt need any time to rest up after saturday (unless he hurt his hand in that 50 second fight).

This is exactly the fight I was hoping for. get to see if AJ can deal with a top wrestler. Im not sure he can just yet, but if he were to beat kos pretty convincingly then I bet the UFC would give him a shot at GSP (allowing him to skip past fitch and alves). They are dying to find someone to fight GSP, and AJ could be the answer. He might not be ready for it yet but he's young and he's got the tools, so I expect it to happen eventually.

johnson should make weight this time, he'll go straight in a training camp so i doubt he'll be going anywhere near 220lbs before this fight. he'll probably be at 200lbs tops before cutting, i'd like to know what his fight weight is, i bet its close to heavier than alves. if he does miss it again he'll have no choice but to go to mw.

koshchek hasn't really been a wrestler since he got beat by gsp, he attempted a like 4 td's against alves which was a stupid gameplan for him. i really want koshchek to be relentless with wrestling in this fight, if johnson is to fight gsp we'll need to see what his tdd is like first.

im goin with johnson by KO in this fight.

I like this fight and I see Johnson knocking Koscheck out, the guy is just a gargantuan WW. If Rumble does the get the W in an impressive fashion, where does that put him in terms of title shot? Could he be contender after winner of Hardy/Swick?

Silva does it again with the matchmaking. While this doesn't completely save the card, it still makes it buyable. It's no lesnar-carwin but it's better then nothing

now, onto the fight. I have Johnson with a vicious KO victory. I have a feeling Kos is gonna want to test his standup and will pay for it. Johnson is on a class of his own with that reach and power. The only way Kos takes this, maybe, if he uses his wrestling for a decision. I just don't think he will though and will pay for it. Johnson for a title shot in 2010 anyone???

I would think so if he does beat Kos as definitively as some are suggesting ie Brutal KO. The casual fan will be sure to ask, how comes it took GSP 3 rounds to beat that guy? Although winner of Hardy/Swick gets next title shot.

i cant see the UFC firing him if he doesn't make weight. he's too big of a prospect to let strikeforce pick him up.

i like kos and aj. this is a good/scary fight for me. i want kos to win, but wouldn't mind all that much if it went the other way. kos by gnp or decision or aj by t/ko.

Kos has a decent gastank, not sure about AJ yet... i think the best plan would be to take AJ to the deep 3rd round waters and see if he can drown him, in fact, i think that's Kos only chance

ppl love Rumbles KO power since he is so huge, but fail to realize he prob has half the gastank of true elite WWs, the prob with cutting so much imo
