I was never a big Rampage fan. But lately he seems to have toned his cocky attitude down. Anyone else notice this? I have more respect for him now and am actually rooting for him to beat Eastman. I guess I just have more respect for a man who has few words.
I hear what you're saying and I respect your opinion, but I actually like the cocky, big mouth Rampage. I hope he rips Eastman apart so he can get his mojo going and talk all sorts of shit. Some fighters are just rude an annoying when they run their mouth, but guys like Rampage and (to throw out another name) Josh Barnett make it fun (at least for me) when they talk shit because they're funny. Also you can sort of tell that they really do respect their opponent, but they want to stir the pot and give the fans something to talk about. Anyway, that's always the way I've seen it.
he's not as cocky as he was, but he still has a pretty big mouth. one of the best interviews in mma. i think he is a great fighter who just needs to get in the ring and prove it.
the thing i like about Rampage is even when he's cocky, you can tell he's having a great time. I agree with sirdilznik, Barnett and Rampage are very funny when they are acting cocky, so much so that i can't really tell if it's real cockiness, or if they are just going out there to entertain the fans and themselves. Really i don't care which it is, they are obviously having a great time doing it.
i like how hes changed a bit. I did have some good laughs at his old stuff to. Like how he would go one for like half an hour talking about what hes gunna do when he get his pride belt. ha funny guy
I'd take 10 rampage attitude/cockiness before pretty much anyone elses love relationship they have towards other fighters and the great respect they have in not wanting to fight their friends.

I love Rampages cocky attitude, and while his recent interviews were toned-down, he was definately still entertaining. But I noticed in the few recent ones I watched, he didn't mention Chuck, I think he wants people to stop thinking that his career is feeding off his 3 year old win over Chuck in PRIDE.

Yeah cockiness is good to an extent. I also hope he takes Eastman out. Now that Rampage doesn't have to worry about Chute Boxe hopefully he can rack some wins up. He needs a few matches to build himself up again. I really respect Barnett. I don't really like the throat slit thing he does but he is all about making things exciting and shows nothing but respect toward other fighters:thumbsup: The Japanese people love him too, alot of them have Barnett shirts on at PRIDE events and go crazy when he comes out

Loads of joke! He goes on about taking a shit with the belt, sleeping with the belt, f*%king with the belt etc. I think it is healthy to be slightly cocky as it makes the fight a bit more exciting if there is some upset between fighters.

Had me in agreeing until the bolded part. I think his career is feeding off of being a well rounded fighter and the fact that he has beat a laundry list of top fighters. his only true kryptonite has been chute boxe. even if the fight vs chuck had never happened i think he still would be considered to be one the most well rounded fighters

his attitude has gotten less ever since he found christianity (did i spell that even close to right). He has recently found god and has been nicer to his fellow man. Hopefully he hasn't lost his ferocity. He didnt seem to have in the law fight.
For me, a fighter can be cocky as long as they can back it up. This is however, different from being a complete asshole to your opponents.
