Gomi looked pumped out his brain after that fight. I don't know that I've seen him so ecstatic after a win. Apparently, he would like to train here full time, to be successful in the "big leagues," so more power to him
What's crazy is that Griffin's leg kick actually made Gomi's more powerful! Because Gomi was able to maintain his balance after Griffin's leg kick altered Gomi stance, he had even more torque than is normally possible.
Check out the gif below and look at Gomi stance after the kick. See how while his lower body twists, his upper body remains stationary. Basically, the leg kick inadvertently gave Gomi's punch a wind up. Freaking awesome.
Lol, a little premature, but I'll support the enthusiasm
The Nog of Pride was back against Randy, but the Nog of the UFC showed up against Cain. I need to see at least 2 consecutive, preferably 3 fights, to believe anybody is back from Pride.
I think the kick gave Gomi even less power. I mean he almost loses his strong food stance for his punch. Actually he loses it but is still able to make it that powerful.
What makes a punch powerful (if you're not throwing arm punches) is the torque generated with your hips. The hip action creates power like a spring so the more torque there is, the greater the wind up.
