The fighters that reach the limit of 265 pounds are the hardest to knockout due to their weight, so which knockouts of big men were the favorites?
Todd Duffee being knocked out by a punch from Mike Russow and Alistair Overeem
Mike Russow getting Tko'd by Werdum (possibly the only big man yet to be knocked out)
Mark Hunt knocked out by Manhoef
Rothwell, Tim Sylvia and Nelson being knocked out by Arlovski
Antonio Silva getting knocked out by Cormier (but also knocked down by Mike Kyle)
Any other big men 260lbs that got knocked out and fought in the UFC? I dont recall Lesnar being knocked down for example except the kick to the liver by Overeem. If I remember Carwin was knocked down by JDS
Though I agree those were great fights and some great KO's, what I mean by "big man" is someone huge who have to cut down to 265lbs, who was knocked out by a great strike
Overeem was a bulked up 205lbs fighter when he was beat,
Mir is probably right at the limit and doesnt have to cut
Struve is not even 265lbs, even though he's as tall as a skyscraper
Cain beat the hell out of all these fighters, but did not KO them
JDS KOing Werdum is my favorite. Really heavy and I didn't even expect him to win. Was one of those moments where you see it and just know you're looking at a future champ.
It's crazy that he was ambarred only two fights prior to fighting Werdum. If that fight had gone to the ground, Fabricio would have come away with the victory pretty easily IMO.
The destruction of bigface was amazing, but I thought we were talking about knockouts.
JDS vs Werdum is one of my all time favourites.
Russow vs Duffee and Browne vs Struve were both epic come-from-behind KOs, so they get points for that.
Gilbert was/is a nasty kickboxer and Junior murked him. It was fast, elusive, struck from a mad angle and he had Yvel's chin sat there waiting for it, brutal setup. Really nice exchanges throughout, and against a guy that stylistically was meant to be trouble for the future Champ.
Nog vs Schaub was, as mentioned, highly satisfying. Carwin is a good example, meat and spuds striker who can drop anyone.
I wanted to but didn't for the same reason I didn't put Cain knocking Nog's head off, they are beautiful to watch but apparently 240lbs isn't big enough.
Could we count Nog pretty much KOing Mir before getting his arm ripped to pieces.
Pete Williams/Mark Coleman, I think they were both heavyweights, didnt have to cut down to 265 but was a awesome ko.
